GTR upgraded performance...Do I need a new prop?
I just got IM heads and mikuni carb kit installed on my GTR 35. With Marshmellow DB exhaust.
Do I need a prop with more cupping for best performance? I'm not sure what rpm's I'm running yet (maybe I should find that out first)...

I'm reading all kind of bad reviews on here now about Iron Mountain heads.....are they really that bad!? (as shown in the picture comparison btw IM & SETX)

Re: GTR upgraded performance...Do I need a new prop?
You could have just sent them your heads and had them worked instead of ordering those.

Re: GTR upgraded performance...Do I need a new prop?
I am in the same position as pintailhen...thought about removing heads but then if there is an issue I have to ship them or drive 4 hours to have them worked. With the IM heads there is an authorized dealer and service center within 10 minutes and another within 45 minutes. Ugh....

Re: GTR upgraded performance...Do I need a new prop?
When a customer sends in Factory heads in to get worked on do they install new seats, guides, valves, springs, polish and all? Also recommendations on decking the heads.....In my opinion that shouldn't be done until the bottom end is done. Correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't mean to hijack a thread just thought it was a good place....
It's not slow....its big...and you just see it for a long time.

With all due respect, Hyper, yours are 2 yrs old. A lot of things have changed since then. The quality control being one them. Couple yrs ago, the IM's were pretty good, but seems their more concerned with quantity now. Just my .02.

Re: GTR upgraded performance...Do I need a new prop?
I've driven to see Cody both times I've had anything done to my motor. I understand about the authorized service center but what are they gonna do? Ship em back to Utah? They sure not gonna fix em themselves. It is well worth the drive for me to know I'm getting the best and work that's done right. I can't say enough good about Cody and his work

Re: GTR upgraded performance...Do I need a new prop?
First we like to work heads that have at least 40 hours, good rule of thumb that the seats have settled at their stopping point. We put new stainless steel stock replacement one piece valves, remove the valve guides, (definitly don't wanna port with guides in place cause you start eating away at the guide making it easy for the valve stem to move around), port polish, port match intake manifold, Deck the heads accordingly, port the intake manifold, port the black death intake. Then, reinstall the guides, 3-5 angle cut the valves, lap the valves to the seats, put new valve retainers, shim springs accordigly, reinstal springs and keepers. Make sure the valves move freely in the guides, reassemble heads and enjoy.
