 Forced Induction
I just saw on tv where a guy put nitrous on a push mower and that got me thinking about a forced induction mud motor. Does anyone know of anyone who has? I found this guy who turboed a V-twin motor in a buggy and thought it would be pretty cool to do to a mud motor. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/big-bloc ... vtwin.htmlI think it might be possible to do to a mud motor, the intercooler might be a problem but putting it on front of the motor with a bracket might work as well. the way im invisioning it, it wouldnt be the prettiest thing but would make some pretty good power.

 Re: Forced Induction
turbos create more heat, lower life span, and more things to go wrong.

 Re: Forced Induction
It would be sweet to see a supercharged vangard screamin n wistln across a mudflat

 Re: Forced Induction
FI would be cool, BUT I dont think the stock engines can can handle 5psi of boost and not explode. Maybe a stronger block, better crank, rods, and pistons. Plus with the small packaging of the MM's not much room to put a turbo and intercooler. BTW Naturally aspirated engines going to be more reliable. Despite what i listed above, it would still be badass to here a spooled turbo screaming across the water!

 Re: Forced Induction
you would have to build on hell of a bottom end to handle the cylinder preasure. You would need to put a intercooler on that thing to to get the intake temp down also. It sure looks cool.

 Re: Forced Induction
Thats all I was thinking when I had the idea is that it would be bad a$$ if done right. Ive been mulling the idea of a roots style super charger on a MM and Ive just about got the layout all figured out...now if only I was a machinist so I could actually build it

 Re: Forced Induction
Pretty sure you would have to go with a centrifugal supercharger not a roots style. The draw back to a supercharger is it takes power from the motor to run it so on such a low horsepower motor to start with gains would be minimal.
A turbo would be a easier route and would produce better power IMO, but the problem lies in these motors being air cooled and when stuck in the mud and really runnning hard while at a standstill it will get very hot very quick.

 Re: Forced Induction
If you ran it on methanol it would stay cool! Could be done....., but not on my budget!
