Everybody knows there is no north in Mississippi.

I have the opportunity to get out and ride somewhere this particular Saturday. Not real particular about where so long as its somewhere between Jackson, MS and Memphis, TN...preferably close to I-55. That's not too particular is it?

Nothing formal, nothing organized. Just get together and go explore some new waters and maybe some mud. Lots of lakes within that nearly 200 mile stretch. Has to be some good backwaters around somewhere. I am not familiar with any of it. Just slightly familiar with Arkabutla and Sardis. At the rate rain has been falling lately, should be some good areas to ride if the patterns keep up the way they have.

I am just starting the thread. Chime in and let's get something started around 9:00 a.m. somewhere. Somebody mentioned "the Rez" wherever that is.

the big black river was good the last time i rode it, waters where up and lots of veggies and all that good stuff not much mud though

I drive to Jackson practically every other Sunday. I see that thing out of its banks every time I cross it on 55 and always wondered if there was access somewhere.

rez right there off the Natchez Trace north part of the lake is the Big Black, what time are you planning on leaving? Its the only real place i know of,
I would be more than welcome to ride out there if my trim stuff gets here.

I'm thinking somewhere around 9 or 10 on the a.m. It's a three hour drive for me.

damn man just remembered thats my spring break.

LOL! That's why I am free! Wife and kids heading to LA for Spring Break! I start a short turnaround in one of my process units on Monday. Actually, oil out is on Saturday so I'm hoping for a smooth shut down.

There's some backwaters off of the pearl at the reservoir...I'd be happy to ride up if y'all wanna ride there

If the water is high, right now its pretty low, cant really go too far, i was out there last weekend, rain may have helped.

I haven't been to Chotard or any of the delta lakes but if the water is low in there Albermarie will have some good mud. Lake Boliver and Six Mile has mud they just ant very big at all. I've always wanted to go down the big black and run it.

Alright then, there's several votes for the Big Black. It looks real inviting where it crosses I-55. Just looks like one if those places to go explore.

I have no idea where to put a boat in the water in MS other than at Sardis & Arkabutla. LOL

Somebody call the spot, pin drop it on a map or something along those lines for the directionally challenged.

This time of the year, the upper end of Sardis should be pretty low. I know there are actually some gravel roads on the bottom of the lake and during the winter you can drive across them.

I am all for the Big Black. If there is a landing at highway 16, sounds good to me.

I haven't looked to see where these locations are in relation to where we want to ride, but all three are currently above flood stage.

Yap! Thats the only public landing I know in that area.

Yeah, I have been on the Little Tallahatchie and the Tallahatchie Canal. All around the upper Sardis WMA. That is some hard sand in that area.

Okay. I think we have this narrowed down to the Big Black River or the "Rez." Not sure where the Rez is...guessing its the Ross Barnett Reservoir? You guys know the area WAY better than me. Let's go with one of those two....y'all pick! LOL

Could plan Big Black. If too low by river gauge a day or two out, plan b could be the Rez.

Any of you guys around Columbia? I'm working in that area. As soon as get the chance to get my boat down here ill be looking to go ride.

Stumps and veggies don't scare me. I have the stump problem up here at Arkabutla! I don't drink and have no need for glass containers. Somebody would have to give me a crash course on the rules down there.

The Rez sounds like a more scenic trip. I know I am sounding wishy washy, but just don't know the area and/or what everybody might be interested in doing.

Either place is good with me! I will say it is more to see on the Rez then on the big black. The rules are the same as anywhere else except for the glass bottle deal. The GW up there are just strick on everything which they half to be with all the ppl that is normally out there on that lake. Don't get me wrong its not like they just run up to everyone harasing them but if there is one at the ramp and they check you it's not to much BS you can say to em to get out of a ticket. And where the No Wake zones are they will set on the bank or somewhere close by watching and if they are and you pulling a wake might as well get ready your getting a reward.

That looks like pretty easy access for me coming from the north on I-55. Probably the Canton exit gets me there best?

I am still going to have to double back to Count Line Road for Whataburger or Cane's before I leave! LOL

well as much as i would like to go on this i ride i already have another to go to( goin to copiah creek on a four wheeler ride) to test out my "new" grizzly 660s airdam clutch and new tires, maybe next time

Was out at copiah this past weekend, new holes and extended some trails. Overall an awesome ride. The clutch and 31 outlaws performed flawlessly
