It most likely would get you there, but I would go as big as I could afford. HP is not just for speed, its also for torque in the shit.

It will get you there without a load. You put a load in it and try that you will be selling either the boat or the motor.

Ive found a 25hp long tail also. Price wasnt bad. I want a surfacedrive. Just dont have the bank roll right now.

Surface drives are great when it comes to easier to drive and for a little extra speed but i know way to many people who have to take there surface drives in to get fixed every year or every other year. There are just way to many parts to it and so much more to go wrong with it than a long tail. Thats why i am going with a long tail. Have you checked out back water mud motors??

double banded, don't get anything less than a 23 HP LT would be my suggestion. I have a 27 on my 1648 grizzly, not ideal but gets the job done. I agree with QuackQuack, the LT's simplicity is sweet, and not everybody needs or wants a surface drive. My friend's SD has been in the shop every year since he bought it. KISS.(but not simple minded)

I put a 20 then a 23 on a 15/42 semi-v still wasn't happy with the power. sold both of them and ended up getting a 31, pushes my boat great, just wish I had a true flat bottom.

For what it's worth I have a 16hp on a 1436... I get 15mph (gps confirmed) just by myself with duck hunting gear. If I add a person, and their hunting crap, I slow down to 9-10 mph (again GPS confirmed) Speed was not my main concern but I will say I am swapping my 16hp to a 21hp motor, as the 16hp struggled to push us both through some of the mud/sand I go through....

So given that your boat is bigger, save yourself the time/frustration and get at least a 21-23hp, or bigger. It would even be worth the wait for the funds to stack up for the bigger motor... otherwise you'll do what I am and be spending MO MONEY after a season!!!

I did. Just bought a 21hp mud buddy LT. I get to pick it up this comeing fri. I am so ready. Ive never owned a mud mtor but Im so ready to let her eat. I live in southeast Missouri . I only need it to get in shin to ankle deep water with smart weed. From what I hear the 21hp will get me there. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the test run!!

so im off for 2 months i will look for some pic

go devil makes them for tall or short transom i have one for a short might ave to get one for a tall when i order my boat this week.I can order in a 15 or 20 in it all comes down to how much money do i want spend..
