I can't tell you anything about Beavertails, but I have a lot of hours running a 35 longtail. The tiller torque provided way more work than this old man wanted to do. I tried it on two boats, an 18 X 48 and a 24 X 48. After an hour of running, with a load, in a river I was definitely ready for a rest. A 35SD on those boats can be run all day and I still have energy left for fishing.

I have owned a 24 beavertail for 12years have broken three welds and broke the handle and had the weld on u joint break. The bearings had replaced they are dry bearings even though there is grease jerk on the shaft also replaced the shaft.I have a friend with a go devil a lot heavier built and sturdier built I think.I have never seen the other brands so have no opinions but beavertail sold out to otter outdoors and the guys who use to work for beavertail started Backwater motors and it looks like they improved on beavertail design looks stronger built.

I have never seen one of their motors but from their web site it definitely is a stronger and better design was thinking of buying one.
