 Boghog Long Tails
Anyone have one? Anyone know anything about their quality. I was just thinking about buying the assembled frame and putting my own motor on it. Any help would be appreciated.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
I know they use a different prop than what you can buy from other manufacturers... I think their shafts aren't threaded 3/4" x 10

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
I've bought random parts from them before to put on a home build. They have great customer service and even refunded my shipping when I returned an item. I also believe I saw where they now have a standerd threaded prop/shaft. Another option is to buy the bolt together kit but ask for it without a prop/shaft then get those from a different manufacturer.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
I have one with a 27" Kolher on it. I haven't owned another brand, but I can say mine has done the usual stuff I have heard other do (leaked grease, frozen prop, spun shafts, etc). I had a couple non critical welds fail as well. The company doesn't seem to sell assembled motors any more, just crate motors and home build kits. Their throttles are junk. I will be able to tell you more about the prop now that I am starting to push the boat into muddy places. They don't seem to get involved on MMT like the other builders. If I were to buy another unit, I would probably look to Mud Buddy or Godevil. Also they charge $30 to ship a $37 bearing kit.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
Now that is what I was looking for. Thanks "swampposh" you just told the story. I think I am going with a go devil. I cannot find a used one with a frame already galvanized, so I am about to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Thanks.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
If you're buying new, I would seriously consider the Back Water Inc longtails.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
The reason I decided to go with the go devil has a lot to do with the option of a galvanized dipped frame. I hunt in salt and brackish water. There are also two dealers not for from me in two direstions. The warranty is good and they have been in business the longest. Also when the owner (Warren Coco) will get on the phone with you for 30 minutes and talk motors, hunting, and dogs. I'm sold.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
Well I dont know about a plug just giving his opinion, but I tell you what Ive tryed just about all the longtails and at the time the bog hog was pretty low in in the list of good to bad just my opinion
you can buy a damn good used longtail for the price of a crate 27hp kohler and a bog hog kit

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
Wasn't a plug for Back Water. I was just letting you know who currently manufactures the best longtail. I've ran several GDLTs and they work fine, but they just aren't in the same league as Back Water. I can definitely understand you wanting to go with GD because of the galvanized frame.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
Frame design and strength. Bearing and seal design and durability. Cavitation plate design. Overall smoother running machine. When I say smoother running, I mean no vibration in the handle and it doesn't feel like you're getting beat up when you drive it which has been my experience with GDLTs.
I'm not saying Go-Devil doesn't make a fine product. I like their longtails a lot and they have great customer service. If there was no such thing as Back Water, I would have without a doubt purchased a brand new GDLT when I bought my SWOMP.

 Re: Boghog Long Tails
I know they are a new company but was based in same area. Have not really been a fan of beavertai's customer service...so maybe their service after the sale would be better
