Post 1754 PD
Looking into doing the 1754 with a PD. New to the scene and just sold my old smaller rig "outboard" and ready to step into the mud motor. Any info would be great. Thanks

TODD :D

There are plenty of folks who have or have had a 1754 w/32 or 36 and perform well. Like Brooks said, drive and find the rig that best suits your needs. A stock 1754 with a 36 should probably run 27-29 unloaded and with a couple folks and some gear in the neighborhood of 24-26. I'm sure some folks will post up some better numbers for ya.

Sounds good. Guess with it being off season and only have about 3 dealers in my area (1-2 hours away) it is hard for me to even get to look at any boats. Have one close that does MB and Excel boats and other all PD. Might sound like a noob, but where did you guys find a place to test them at? THanks again

Todd, I am going to get you hooked up with QauckKilla (AUbrey Ward). He lives in Kema now and has a 17/54 PD with a 36. I am gong to get him to give you a test drive so you can have some hands on driving there close to home.

I too have had the luxury of driving 3 types of s/d engines. (g/t, g/d, pd).
By far, the p/d is the most comfortable mm there is to oprate.

The g/d s/d is very fast but is no different to operate than the g/t, your always pulling to keep it straight. :x

The g/t had reverse but it will fill your boat and you up with mud and dig a hole and stop your boat. :o

I have the p/d w/reverse. I ran my boat up on a hard mudflat until just the motor was in the water, reversed the motor and powered off with absolutely no problem. In that situation no other motor would have been sufficient. :D

So run the others, and if these nice guys don't mind, run them like you would run your own.

I run a 1754 with a PD 36 and love the setup. I get the same speeds as mentioned above. Overall I have no complaints with the boat or the customer service. Like Brooks said, run as many as you can and get the one that you like. When I was looking it was a tossup between PD and GT. I think if you stick with these two you will be very happy.
