 long tail shaft lengh?
I am currently building my first long tail. i have opted to build a direct drive to save some HP. A predator 212cc is the my engine of choice and i have all of the materials. The engine mount is done, coupler built, upper bearing carrier, bushings and i am now on the down hill slope. This is not a kit nor am i using plans. The completed unit will resemble a stump jumper and I am stumped.. HAHA..... to go 6ft or 5ft shaft? The 6ft will put more of the engine in the boat for weight distribution. I have a 16 inch transom height so the angle may be a little steep with 5ft......any ideas?

 Re: long tail shaft lengh?
will a 1ft add that much more weight? not really. Will it add more forward horizontal thrust? yes. I think you already know your answer.
