 Older PD Lower unit Last night, pulled friends block off his PD 36 to do a cam install. As we were tearing it down, he mentioned installing hydro reverse at some time. We my reply was why not now cuz the bitch is already torn apart. (thanks will and bayouboy) This bitch fought us the entire way. Little surface rust went a long way on those splines. But anyway, I got to looking at his lower unit assembly and remembered the 360 degree gear needed. 360 degree gear.JPG IMG_1891.JPG The 360 degree gear has 6 holes, but his tower where it would bolt to, only has 4. Is this a problem. Is there an adapter plate or does something need to be changed out. If its a problem, I'm just gonna put his shit back together to get him back out and he can deal directly with PD. Just trying to help out an incompentent neighbor  , but that fucker can drink some beer watching me work on his shit

Re: Older PD Lower unit I don't see why you can't drill and tap it, that gear just gives the reverse something to grab to turn the lower unit. You'll have to drill the reverse disk also. Might be better off to get a price for a new disk, gear and that aluminum tower bushing or spacer or whatever they call it.

Re: Older PD Lower unit I'll have to remove the 4 bolts and see if the internals are the same. If so, the yeah, he could bring to local maching shop and drill and tap. Got late last night so block is still torn apart.

Re: Older PD Lower unit Just talked to KP, it will bolt straight up to the 4 holes with no problem. The middle holes won't be used.
