Anybody tried this? Looking at one of these so I can keep my phone sealed up n the lifeproof. I don't really know crap about stereos you think this would push 4 6.5" speakers decently?

Finally finished mine. Head unit with 4 polk 6.5s. No amp at the moment. Gonna see how i like it this way for a while. I used some square plastic tubing to run my wires in. It has a real tight fit when you close it up and it has 3m adhesive on the back. I gave it an extra shot of 77 just for good measure. I kinda hated to cut holes in my boat but didnt want to sacrifice room for another cooler since my boat is on the small side (1644).

Nice job paint matching the raceways! Your speaker layout is identical to mine, so don't worry, it'll sound good. :D

Looks good med. Thought those were JL Audio 7.7's. I have those in my Wellcraft and those speakers ROCK!
I'm sure those Polk's sound pretty damn good too.

You guys with the 8" Bazooka's, are yall putting PVC tube/cap on the back or is it just open inside the box or console? I was just a lowes and only saw 6" pvc
I have 4 polk 6.5" marine speakers and a 400W amp that I will run for now, but thinking about getting those bazooka 8s
Im just waiting on a boat :|

Mine is wide open. And they freakin crank. I was told bazooka marine speakers are one of few that don't need that to sound good. They didn't lie.

Whatever you do, make sure you notch out a spot in the whole wherever the tweeter wire is going to pass.

Post Re: Show your boat stereo
Couple of questions I ran into while starting my stereo install this afternoon.
1. The instructions for the amp (JBL 320 W) say to install an "appropriate size fuse" in line on the hot wire from the battery. What size is "appropriate"?

2. The head unit says to hook the hot wire to a keyed accessory wire or to put a switch in line if connecting directly to a battery. I will be going straight to the batt. Is a switch really necessary? Can't ya just turn the stereo off or will it still drain the battery?

How much time do these stereos run on a single batt before killing it?? I havent ever though about running a stereo until I saw this thread, so I am trying to figure all the details out in case I decide to build one for my boat.

I havent run a battery down yet..... I also havent sat on a sandbar and listened to it all day long without making runs that charge the battery.

Yeah unless your running a big ass amp with no capacitor it would take along time to drain a deep cycle battery.
