Try whispering if you're sneaking around there though. They'll catch you in seconds if you keep yelling.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
I got one. Ran it all duck season with out any problems. Fast for a longtail, hauls a load well (actually runs faster on my boat with 2 people and dog vrs just me).
I will need to see your finger prints and blood type before answering more questions.
And yeh I am selling because not exactly the perfect fit with my hull. Figured it would be fine but to short of a boat for all that tail.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
KCM, you must the only east of the Mississippi river that has used one! Wish I had the moolah to buy it- just saw it on the classified page, that is a very fair price. I prefer the LT over the surface drive where I run. That speed would be ideal for me. Thank you for revealing secrets.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
Nah, there are 3 of them here in South Carolina all with in 20 miles of my house.
If I hunted more log jams and shallow cypress breaks it would be the rig to have.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
Dang! Three! I can't justify going to a shorty because we have only 10 mile round trips through shallow marsh with little mud, hard bottom, some veggies. I am looking at both the SLT (if they still make them in a couple of years) and BackH2O's line of LT's. So what type of drive are you going for? I'm already dreaming of teal season...

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
Glad to hear i am part of a exclusive club ! I have a 35cdi Super Longtail on a 17x54 GE Gatortrax I also own a MB SD. Ran the SLT all last season and I love it most of my friends run longtails of about every brand. The SLT is by far the fastest LT I have ran and carries a load just as good or better than most. I get 24 with full hunting load in the boat including a 9ft four rivers. No problems yet with belt or clutch. Just make sure you get 9in prop and correct gearing

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
If I remember correctly, I think Boat Dr had a customer that wanted the SLT with a HD5500 motor and he got it. Was running 30mph or something of that nature.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
On the MB site it says 220#. 4rivers, that is great speed, given the weight of that GT boat and load. I bet on a lighter weight 1848 or 1744 that would scoot several mph faster. All in all, that was a good report- hope you won't face any reprisals by men in black attire- I hope they make a few more! Would you say they are a bit easier to turn and operate than a conventional 35 HP LT?

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
No doubt easier to handle than most LT motors. I do run mine at times sitting down not to much diff. than my SD motor. I belive the production of this model is scheduled to be taken over by Boat Dr. Not sure when this will happen they have all been pretty busy with the new V+H models.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
Ok, thanks. Hopefully BoatDr will chime up and let us know. I think more will buy one if they are available. So if you need another prop, who makes them?

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
You can mod it up to a 7000 if you want to but heck as a stock 35 it is all I want to handle while standing up.
Have you locked in your break away handle? My only complaint, break away handle on a longtail which was designed for leverage in the thick stuff. Every time you lift up it would give way, equal me getting pissed. I put a pin in mine to lock it in position.
Actually been thinking tilt and trim might actually be nice on it. Half proping that sucker increases speed, like a long surface drive.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
I have got a SLT fellas, I got the 4200BD , it runs hard, about 23-24 mph with a big load 2 guys, dog and a mountain of decoys . By myself it really hauls some ass. I have a 1650 Express, i had a 27 go devil on it, once my old man saw how they did in the mud he got one for his 14' alumnacraft. His was newer and of course faster with the lighter boat. Of course being the younger man i could not be beaten, so i got the 42 bd SLT, and i can roar around him like hes standing still. For those out there that say they can run 23-24 mph with a standard longtail..........pssshhhhhh maybe if your going down rapids, with a sail, and a 60 mph breeze. Cause my longtail is as fast as a 35 sd. One problem here fellas, they arn't like the good ole' traditional longtails your used to, you can't get er' buried in the mud and just throw the prop down and push 'er in and maker go. With the surface drive style prop your kinda limited from the mucky goopy mud bottom you used to go through. You can't hyrdo plane over large muddy flats like you can with the traditional longtails. My review of them is this, for big loads long hauls with minimal mud and lotsa vegitation they're great. For the mud they suck....... they just can't dig.....period

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
Thank you, dubuqueLT! Great review, sounds like exactly what I need for my marsh. The problem is getting the right hull for that SLT. I'd want a minimum 17' hull, preferably an 18'.

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
no the outboard won't run through 6" of water or solid grass........ the only down fall of SLT is digging capability, i have 30+ hrs on it and havent realized its full potential i guess, when in a muddy situtation you can still use the motor to get in the mud a little, but they have a tendancy to spin out like a shorty........ i will try to get er' this weekend and take some video boys, no promises but i will try, the motor with the cross over sounds badass i will say that, if your a long tail guy with long hauls its the motor for you but good luck getting one............

 Re: SUPER LONGTAIL
I find mine to work well with the mud. Just like a SD the more prop angle down the better it digs but a long tail will get down and out further. I stopped onto of mud flats the other day and walked right off with the SLT.
One thing is not to get the RPM's up then drop it in the mud or it will blow out a hole.
Maybe if I can get to borrow a Go-Pro camera I will post up some videos soon.
