Post Re: Modded B&S Carb From Gecker
I placed my order for a carb last week. Awaiting the new carb and I will send mine back. I will let yall know performance upgrades... I just installed a new prop as well... I went from turning 3950 RPM to 3450 with the new prop. Guess mine was really worn. Avoiding running the boat that much until I can test it with a topped off tank and myself one with stock carb one without.

Too much to post I spent an hour on the phone with the guy over at Gecker. He sold me and I like where they are headed.

Exhaust did sound cool from how it was described and its still be finalized to all the different mud motors from what I understood as in how it could work with all the other aftermarket accessories we are throwing on these machines lol

Post Re: Modded B&S Carb From Gecker
We have had a few issues as we have rolled out our core replacement and modified stock carburetor program but nothing major. We did not expect it to go super easy and have tried to produce the carburetors in a timely manor for those that wanted a comparable performance carburetor package option to the Mikuni carburetor at a fraction of the price. In some situations we have had to use new carburetors. We have been experiencing some back order issues with Briggs and Stratton on stock out of the box carburetors. There have also been some delays from people that have not returned the core yet. As we move forward and are more able to control each aspect, delays will become less frequent. Trust me, we want to get them out of here as quickly as possible and with no problems. Trying to control each aspect is what we are trying to do. We always have the option of doing the work to your carburetor if a core or a new carburetor body is on back order. This works very well in between seasons.

The feedback on performance from those that have received carburetors in both stages from us has been very good. Of course we knew it was good as we have done this same work to a ton of engines as well as some local owners of mud boats. Presenting this to you guys is the only thing that is new for us.

A few notes on the modified stock carburetors:
-Level 2 carburetor- Our level 2 carburetor presents the maximum amount of machining possible in an attempt to give you the most performance in air flow.

The level 2 carburetor features an infinite radius venturi. This means that every part of the carburetor is fully machined for the maximum amount of air flow possible from a stock carburetor from front to back.
Casting thicknesses vary tremendously in these Chinese made stock carburetor bodies. As a result, occasionally, we may break through the carburetor body and have to use an epoxy to fill a hole. This does not happen that often at all but the potential is there.
We have been doing these same modifications on carburetors of all types since we started in the business of building performance engines in 1982. The issue with having to use epoxy is well known among racers and performance engine builders in every racing market but not well known to mud boat guys. Have it be known that in no way does this compromise the integrity or performance of the carburetor in any way. If it did, we would not ship it out. We will stand behind any carburetor that we produce in our shop. Rest assured that there is not an issue with this part of the level 2 modified stock carburetors. We use an epoxy that is resistant to gas, oil and methanol and last for basically ever. We are just trying to make your carburetor as good as we can! This situation occurs a very small percentage of the time and should be no reason to throw away a stock carburetor body. I just wanted to let everyone know about it and that it is not a big deal.

Going out today just got word. Once received I'll do a before & after video of performance gains.

I'm going to take the boat to the ramp and run it with the stock carb and then the modified. I hope to have the carb Thursday evening assuming UPS is on time :!:

Well the stupid cold front rolled in just before I was going to swap the carbs. Looks like I'll be installing it tonight once this rain lets up. 27.8 MPH deep water top speed w/ the stock carb & brand new prop on the boat. More to come after I swap the carbs.

Just watch your plugs and your temperatures if you can at the exhaust flange to make sure the engine does not run lean. Even though a infared temperature gauge is not an exact measure of the exhaust gas temperature, you can still learn a lot from it compared to the carb or exhaust that you took off. The closer you get to the optimum amount of fuel, the better it will be. The more open the initial intake system is, the better it is. We have one customer that has a odd ball 35 that was REALLY lean before he ever got the carb. He is up to 4 MPH increase with a Level 2 with 3 adults and 1 kid in the boat but he had to go a lot fatter. He is going to post his results Monday or so he said. Results are going to vary though depending on the quality of the valve job, rings etc. If the engine has some leaks, the maximum gain will not be seen.

WestEndAngler, email or PM me your name etc and I will check on the tracking info on yours.

Sheldon, I would appreciate a return phone call concerning my refund. I have left a couple more messages for you to call me and you haven't yet. No refund has been credited to my account and it has been over a week since you said it was posted. Ronnie Sellers.

Is Mr. Gecker's first name Sheldon? If so, are you the same Sheldon Gecker who dominated the NHRA Super Gas class with the Plymouth Arrow named King Kong? :?:

DMC, Actually that was my dad. I helped him with a couple of his championships but not all of them. He is one HELL of a race car driver for sure. That guy can drive and make anything go better. It was quite the thrill to work with my dad on that deal. Him and I came up with some inventions and he came up with a ton more.

Ronnie, I responded to you on another post.

Thanks

I knew that Gecker name rang a bell! Ever since I saw your website I wondered if it was the same Gecker family. Small world. I grew up around drag racing with my dad and remember seeing that King Kong car in the winner circle on a regular basis.

COe, PM sent. You should be able to switch the fuel shut off. There are 3 types but the carb is the same.

New carb coming Monday. Got to the bottom of it. Thanks Sheldon for helping me out. Guys I'll post reports as soon as I get her installed. I've torn it apart twice now and reassembled twice so should be a 30 min process.

Is there anyone on here that hasn't got the run around from gecker???

It seems as if there are a few of yall that are trying to get info on their parts. And there are also 3 or 4 of yall that have ordered parts and are having issues with getting the right parts or getting your money back due to gettig the run around.

I would be interested in one of these carbs if the customer service was better. Maybe there is something that isn't being said on either end. What gives??
