Trying again.

Hydro plane. Think that flat was a little longer than a football field. Never slowed down.

yeah the mud up here is usually to hard to dig like that, although we do have some "loon-poop" in areas, idk isn't quite the same, i have a hard time half proping too, the go devils throttle being set in one place helped me with that alot in the past, more worried about hitting the rev limit too much.......

I believe you, wm! If you've looked at any of those Southeast Asian longtails, you'll realize that those speeds are attainable, and not just with big block auto motors powering those huge river boats over there. They have mini longtail boats that are very fast. I don't think our mfg.'s have fully refined or explored other improvements in the traditional longtails. I welcome BackH2O's entry into this niche market and their noticeable improvements. I'm also aware that the SLT's gear reduction is a good idea and would like to see it on the 23,25,27 Briggs/Vanguard powerplants. I hope this idea does not end. I welcome any other SLT owners' input/reviews on their respective motors.

i guess i will give you the benefit of the doubt, of maybe 25 mph, but thats 35 SD speed. i guess maybe with just the right hull it could be attained. But when my buddy has a MB 45 BD SD on a Excel F4 running around 30 i have a hard time believing. I guess i'd have to see it to believe it,
Let me say it that way.

Hey KCM what size prop you using, i have a 9x9.5

Actually been thinking tilt and trim might actually be nice on it. Half proping that sucker increases speed, like a long surface drive.[/quote]

long surface drive? so what your saying is like a back h2o? :D

i took the baffle out of my exhaust today, increased rpm to 3850 with a little chop, 3750 glassy water, i know i was in the 25 mph range, may have bumped up to 26-27, no gps to confirm...... can't believe the throttle response difference without baffle, runs like a raped ape, and VERY LOUD for the double crossover........

I am not familiar with the Backwater H2O.

It does look like a very well engineered and assembled product.
