 Re: Gator Glide
It doesn't coat as much as they claim but with 2 coats of each it is still pretty nice if it was up to me selling it I would sell a gallon of each bc it doesn't cover very much I would rather see them cut the price some and sell it as a gallon of base and gallon of g2 or g4

 Re: Gator Glide
You guys are just putting it on to thick, about the third coat is when you shouldn't be able to see thru it. It will still work in the thicker coat just fine but that's why your not getting as much coverage out of it. Waiting days between coats is not a good idea keep it at the 30-45 minute between coats or dry to touch and apply another coat ( Its a bonding process ) . If you wait too long you will need to re-sand surface so it will adhere properly. Looks good you will like it.

 Re: Gator Glide
The darker the less pigment, so graphite would be black but just less pigment . That being said you will not have any adhesion issues with any of our colors because we won't put it out with to much pigment. Also GG adheres better than anything I've ever used or know of. If you prep right it isn't coming off, you have to wear it off.

 Re: Gator Glide
I know this topic is a couple years old, but would you happen to remember the height of the board going across that you suspended your boat from rubberduck?

 Re: Gator Glide
Man all the old threads are popping up. If it helps, I try to get the boat just high enough to get the trailer out and roll a 30 gal drum under it with for sanding it down. I like it a foot or two higher for painting. Makes it easy to sand with your back against the ground and easier to dip the roller with it higher.

 Re: Gator Glide
Thanks frog, I just built the frames today and I'll be ordering some gator glide in the near future, I still have about 6 weeks or so until my new hull will be ready. Another question frog, do I still have to sand the surface on a brand new hull even though even though it's bare metal?

 Re: Gator Glide
Yes, it's not going to take you long and new stuff really need a good acetone cleaning. Wouldn't hurt to wash it with a degreaser before the acetone. Everything combined would take less than 45 min and you will eliminate any reason for failure.

 Re: Gator Glide
I plan on using some stout degreaser and rinse well on my new hull before the acetone. The stuff we use to clean equipment is so caustic it will dissolve oil just about on contact. It's some stout stuff. That should take any oils off the aluminum since I'm having mine painted and the bottom left bare. I will have to prep and tape off a few inches up the sides. I would imagine some Simple Green, Purple Power, or plain old Dawn dish soap and a little water would do fine too.
