 Re: REVERSE??
I'd say the use of reverse has a lot to do with the terrain you run. If you bust trails with a lot of veggies or run a lot of soft mud there is no question you need it and will use it. If you run a lot of hard bottom and sand like I do, it's nice to have but doesn't work so well when you ground the boat with 1" of water over sand/hard bottom.

 Re: REVERSE??
I didn't think I would need it...........until I needed it.
FPR has removed me from places where the only way out was back the way you came and turning the boat around was not an option, nor was a pushpole.

 Re: REVERSE??
When you get stuck with a short tail, you are stuck and a push pole is useless. Instant reverse is nice at the dock and fishing.

 Re: REVERSE??
On the lake I hunt a lot, there are two dead end pockets that are plenty wide enough to turn around in but we go in reverse. Come out in reverse also. The bottom is old leaves over hard sand. In FPR, I can get in and out, stop start and go and not eat the prop. In forward, I can't get on step, so I have to grind my way out. I have tried unsucessfully to jump logs in FPR.

 Re: REVERSE??
Once you have it and get accustomed to it you will have it no other way.It can save your ass but when you beach it with your forward momentum you need a friend with a long rope or air boat.

 Re: REVERSE??
It's saved my ass a few times when the trail dwindled down to no water and narrower than the boat.

 Re: REVERSE??
ask Shafer how FPR works when you get stopped and you're trying hard to grind your way out in foward.

 Re: REVERSE??
ha, ive been through a longtail and a GDSD. Push Poles help some but not enough. Im fixing to upgrade to a GTR with reverse. Im tired of pushing myself around when i get in a bind
