Post mudbuddy triim problem
hey guys I got 2010 23 mb hd sport. My trim was working fine, a little slow coming up but working. Now i have nothing no clicks or anything. Does this model have relays or fuses? What is the best way to test? I have checked wires at trim unit and switch they seem to be fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

My trim switch went bad but mine would move just clocked alot. I think they have relays but you may want to til one of the gurus chimes in.

Pull the stainless plate off the transom bracket (says Sport on it)& check the relays.

Merc trim, or Thompson? Merc trim relays are under there, Thompson has no relays. Pretty sure MB started using Merc in late 09, all 2010 should have it (except mini frames)

Same here. Are the relays the small yellow boxes on the side of motor are they both for trim? Or is one of them for the clutch?

I just had to replace my whole trim switch on the handle. One of the contacts on the inside had come loose and broke in half somehow in there. Check all your connections on the breakers that are next to the starter and make sure your getting a good connection at the switch its self.

Those are circuit breakers, not relays. Yes 1 for clutch & 1 for trim.

hey guys I have done some investigation. My switch and breakers are good. I am getting power to the wires at the motor when I push the switch. Does that mean the motor is bad? Are there connections inside motor that can be burnt or loose? Where do I go from here?

Did you check the relays under the Sport plate, or do you have Thompson trim?

its a thompson trim I believe. There are no relays on under the plate. All the numbers and info is worn off the motor any idea of a model number where I can get a new one?

OK guys I have gotten the unit off. Hooked it directly to power and I get nothing. Pulled apart and found the problem. The electric motor was pretty burnt up. The unit is a bear unit. I was told you can get a replacement st motion industries is this true? Or Is mud Buddy the only place to order. I will attach some pics of motor.

Hey camo while I'm working on the motor my starter solenoid has been acting up. Sometimes it clicks sometimes it cranks? Is that a part that is pretty generic? Can I get it at my local lawnmower shop?

I'm not 100% positive, but I think a Ford solenoid is compatible with the 23. Just bring it with you to the parts house and tell em it's on a lawn mower.
