 31 longtail getting back to speed. I have a 31 gd longtail on a 18x60 aluminum hull.
When I bought the boat, it was running 19 with 2 guys. Four years later and the most I can get is 18 by myself. I put a K&N filter on it and added the BPS exhaust and picked up 200rpms and got back around 19-19.5.
Last month I had to replace the carb and the BPS muffler got a couple bad cracks and I went back to the stock muffler and donaldson air cleaner. This knocked my unloaded speed down to 17.6.
This week I got the muffler back and put the K&N back on. Now I'm back to normal.
Hopefully I'm going to get some carb work done and maybe pick up another 1-2mph.

Re: 31 longtail getting back to speed. No problems at all. The picture is kinda deceptive because of how tall the transom is. Your looking at a overall 24" tall transom, 16" at the notch.

Re: 31 longtail getting back to speed. i gotcha, thats how my transom is...i just don't have the nerve to slive into it. did you do it yourself? i would think that would be a fairly challenging task
