I have a 5hp longtail on a four rivers layout. I have been exploring the possibilities of building the motor to a 10hp. I have been told that it can be done with relative reliability considering it will be a modded motor. Currently the throttle is on the motor you turn it to desired rpm and leave it there(wide open for me). Part of the modding is removing the rev limiter so the throttle won't work. I would like to be able to set the rpms at a certain level at the motor after warming up and have a squeeze throttle on the handle to go wide open when in clean water and then release to go to "base" throttle when in stups, stopping etc. Has anyone tried this? I have zero knowlege of longtail's as a surface drive was the first motor I ever had.

I never tried the squeeze grip throttle, but I did try a twist grip and it worked pretty good, I think if i had to do it again I would go squeeze though!

When EVT put the Stage 1 Kit on my 31GDLT they put a squeeze throttle on it.

I made one out of the brake handle on a bike, works really good. I had to do a little cutting and playing with the throttle assembly, nothing too major.
