I bought 1 pack of the avery layout blind cover.....I used it to break up the frame and hung the backside of the blind inside to break it up when ducks are overhead.

 Re: scissor blind build.
Using natural vegetation is better - Although I always veggie up, I did an experiment a couple of years ago and set up in the wide open, in about 18" of water - It took a little work, but we limited out. Came to the conclusion that most of the quackers are passing through and don't know if that clump of grass was there yesterday or not... I think I may have even ticked off a few of the quys that were set up in the grass on the edges - the ducks seemed to be more interested in the spot I chose I carry a pair of hedge shears and about a dozen 1 1/2" PVC pipes about 2' long, I stick the PVC in the mud around the boat, then fill with some sawgrass, etc - putting some on the blind itself too. Once you get the hang of it, it only adds about 10 mins to the setup (when you are set up to where you only have to dress the front side of the blind) ... That is the Avery grass on my old Northern Flight blind ( I have since built my own custom blind based off the NF design, but improved)- ordered Fastgrass this year - recommended by some of the guys on the forum here - we will see...

 Re: scissor blind build.
Not sure , mine might be 3/4". I put this tarp on the blind last night. Its a canvas type deal coated with a duck oil, making it 100% water proof. Had my ol lady get in it and sprayed it with the hose. Not a drop. Plus a good wind blocker.

 Re: scissor blind build.
Best I can find at the moment - this was setting up just before Early Teal last year... You can see the outward "bow" of the blind (by the way, I forgot to mention I had put a PVC pipe woven through the middle of the netting for the tent poles to push outwards against) 091312.jpg
Then of course the only other I can find is... I think it was around 28* that morning...

what did you use to attach the 4 upright bars that support the blind? Looks like they go into your railing?

 Re: scissor blind build.
I used some T-bolts that slide into the slotted rails on my boat.
I had some M8's that were too big, so I made some using an M6 threaded back plate and an M6 button head cap screw.

 Re: scissor blind build.
I used avery Timber Grass. It looks great but i am already dissapointed with it. After folding the blind up and putting it away for a few days, i noteced the mats have already started to come apart. When i set it back up, a few of the mats look like shit.
I think the raffia grass would have been a better route. Will likely do that next year.
