Post  Copperhead 18hp or Mud buddy mini 23
I am looking to put this on a 1542 all welded aluminum boat. It is a semi v which I know is not ideal. I think the dry weight of the hull is around 280 or so. I am mostly using this in areas where it's going to have a cushion of water between the boat and bottom, but have trouble using a outboard. That's why at least for now I think I can get away with the semi v and ribbed bottom. I know I am not going to be getting the full performance of the motor just looking to get from point a to b and be able to cross or access some shallow areas as needed when we have low water. This will be my first mm so that's why I figured this would be the place to get some advice. The majority of the time it's just going to be me and a climber in the boat so pretty light load. I just am looking for a motor that will hopefully plane out my boat and would like to be in the 20mph ball park.

Out of your 2 pics I would go with the 23 mini. If you can save a little more go for the 25 gtr. It's actually a much stronger motor than the 23 briggs. Reverse is awesome.

Not bashing MB. All my friends love mud buddy. They run the 45 mag (Monster Motor)

When they get stuck everybody gets out of the boat and pushes. Funny as shit.

I just hit reverse. GTR reverse is amazing.

Best of luck !
