Post prodrive and gatortrax
how come you don't see these paired up more? not trying to start anything. i just sold my GD and MB and i'm already planning my new rig. i will be looking at the prodrives but i really like a rounded chine boat. i like the fact that they turn when you ask them to. anyway........are there performance issues with gtrax boats and prodrives?

Owned a rouge and now a 3man hide. 3man hide is still impressing me everytime I take it out. Have not had any problem with either of them. If you do buy a gatortrax and run stumps spend the money for the extra rib in it. Will be worth it. Dont see many prodrives on them probably because of the hunt deck is my opinion.

Look at the Gator-Tail extreme step chine hull with a Prodrive.

You will thank me later. I just took delivery of mine and I am extremely impressed at the way it handles.

Be careful what you might choose to mount a PD on. There was someone either here on or the old forum that put a PD on a hunt deck style boat. With the manual reverse, it was a real pain to be reaching that far back to pull the reverse pin.

Post Re: prodrive and gatortrax
When I first got my Prodrive I put it on the Gatortrax hull that I had run a Hyperdrive on prior. It ran well...a skoche faster than the Hyper did on that hull. My hull had a hunt deck. That made for some inconveniences when running the PD with power trim. I have posted this on other threads before...I don't have the stamina to repeat it all now. I am now running the motor on a tall transom Phowler. I converted the motor from short to tall. Two things:

1) If you like to stand and drive your ProDrive get a tall transom boat.
2) If you buy a short transom Prodrive motor it can be converted to tall transom, but it is not an easy "piece of cake". Welding of aluminum is involved.

Why do u think that the tracking is different with the round chine and the square chine boats at idle? Never driven a round chine so I wouldn't know, just curius is all.

Post Re: prodrive and gatortrax
I had a gatortrax boat that I put the PD on. Maybe lost a mile per hour top end, but I went from a 35 Hyper to a 32 PD. The 36 was only a dream then.

As has been said here, it cornered great. But where I had issue was that I could NOT get the stern lift with the FPR. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get full use from the FPR. I don't know if it was round chine, weight, or what, but that was my biggest reason for getting rid of my GT boat. The FPR lifts my skiff fine now.

Med, I'll meet you at Wright Patman one evening and you can drive my boat, it's a square chine. It's really not that big a deal when you get used to it. Plus, it carries a load better, goes a little bit faster most of the time, and doesn't take as much to take off in shallow water. I used to have a PD on my round chine godevil boat. it worked fine... but I'm much happier with square chines.

i may take you up on that Crews. i work there in t-town. i'm not against a square chined. the gd is the only mud boat that i've run and i liked it. only going on heresay as far as how a square chined hull runs in regards to the sliding. i plan on buying next summer so i hope to find a boat/motor combo instead of trying to piece together something. i really do want to run a prodrive though to see what all the hype is about

you ever unass that 27?
