 Re: winch
Don't have to go to high end. I got a 3500lb with remote. Remote is a nice touch. I am able to get out of the boat when I am winching up river banks some near 90 degrees. Replace the wire cable with synthetic 1/4 inch. Rope is kind of expensive but you will thank me later. I have tried all anchors and if you are running vegetation a Bruce anchor is by far the way to go. It really grabs the root structures. Always keep a spud bar in the boat though for hard dirt conditions. I have a viper winch 100% waterproof. I did blow a solenoid the other day though. Other than that it does the job

 Re: winch
I use schedule 40 galvanized spud poles and can hold them down and use them as anchors..... and remember, any winch is only as good as the battery....no juice no pull.
sent from the former Republic of Texas.

 Re: winch
I get 5-50 foot pulls out of a small tractor 12 vol batt. I run the motor when the winch starts to slow to charge the battery.
