Moving Cavitation Plate for a Tall Transom boat?
I am looking at a short transom 27hp longtail for a tall transom boat I am getting. I called GoDevil and they said that I need to cut and re-weld the cavitation plate to make the motor work on a tall transom boat. Anyone know exactly what to do? Only thing I can think of is that the angle of the plate needs to be changed considerably. Anyone done this before?
Thank
Trey

Yea not too long ago I did the same thing you are needing to do. Pretty easy to do just order the plate kit from go-devil (it is already welded up and ready to go) cut the old off and weld the new one on. The critical part is just having enough space between the prop and the plate when you are done. Just weld the new one on then you can run it in the water and start fine tuning.

SO is it a different plate or just the angle of the plate that changes?

It is a different plate all together already welded to the piece that you weld to the shaft tube....Go-devil has done the hard work for you and already has the angle and everything figured out for you...Call and talk to Waren Coco at go devil he can answer any questions you may have... He is very helpful

I've heard you can adjust the steering bolt(?) on the motor to work with a tall transom boat. I think you just don't have as much reach. Anyone done that?
