It runs good enough! Know a guy that ran one on a 1436 and it was a little heavy but got the job done.

I run a 16hp single cylinder on a 1436 riveted and hit 16 or so empty but with a heavy hunting load itll usually hang around 10 but still pushes through the crud...

I would think you'd be fine. How wide is the boat? I have a 23hp backh20 SWOMP (175 lbs) on a 14 ft. Mod-v Jon. It's 48 inches wide at the bottom.

I ran a. 16 lt for years , 15'x36 skiff. , pushed that thing fine . Coupe 75 has that motor now on a 14' crawfish hull and it runs fine , call me crazy but I put a 25 GD lt on my 15x36 skiff , not much noticeable speed difference. , but it pushes a heavier load easier. .

I run a 20 hp longtail on an ol riveted 1436. No problems with it as far as water coming over that back or in on turns. Just don't go crossin any oceans with it.

I had a 16LT on a Tracker 15. It ran about 15mph loaded with two guys. I considered replacing it with some of the smaller surface drives on the market, but ended up with a whole new rig. If you're that worried about speeds, looks at some of them. I got a little nervous after researching them though. I found alot of reviews that kind of pushed me away from getting one.

I run a 20hp beavertail on a riveted 1436... I'm never going to set a land speed record but there's very few places I can't get.

Got a 16hp longtail godevil on a 14x36 crawdad and it floats and handles it fine. I am not setting a speed record with it but it runs 16 unloaded 15 loaded. Goes anywhere I dare to take it. A longer boat would improve speed due to more planing surface. 14x36 will take the 16 with no problem.
