Post Huntdeck with a Longtail
Any of you guys run this combo, good or bad combo. I will be running a 35 longtail and want a huntdeck but i am unsure of how it will perform. Any info is appreciated.

Post Huntdeck with a Longtail
I have a gator trax 1638 with a hunt deck and a 24hp longtail. Just got the boat back in October but really like it so far. The hunt deck in the link is more of a full width pod than a hunt deck - at least to me.
The main reason I got a hd on my boat was for hunting my dog so she wouldn't soak everything in the boat and for me to get in and out easier if the water is more than a couple inches deep. I don't have an issue with tight turns.
I did bend the tiller a little to give me some more room to lift the prop before it hit the false transom but only a few degrees. I used the motor for a couple weeks just fine before I bent it just to make sure that was what I wanted to do.

To clear things up, in my previous post I was speaking if a true hunt deck with the motor mounted to it and not the hull.

This is the only one I have on my phone and was before I bent the tiller. I'll be home tomorrow night so I'll try to get a better picture maybe Sunday.

So... according to popular belief - since my LT is mounted on the hull transom, I don't have a hunt deck, but rather a "glorified pod" mounted to ass end of my hull... That's fine - I can live with that
Even though my "glorified pod" has more usable surface area since the only thing in my way of stepping from side to side of it is a tail shaft? - my dog has room to lay down and take a nap should she please...

The whole reason I added the hunt deck was for the added buoyancy - my hull has a full width rear seat, with storage underneath, and in the area behind the seat I keep my fuel tank, battery, and propane bottle for the Dearborn heater - this keeps the open floor plan clear of these necessary "obstacles", and there would be no added "space" gain by moving the motor back.

By keeping my motor mounted to the hull transom, my short wide hull runs flatter than if I had built a transom onto the hunt deck, allowing me a lot easier travel in the skinny water - plus I don't have to stretch out for the sharp turns where I have the tail almost perpendicular to the hull (and some of the places I hunt, that is a must)

Its a short transom. Yeah Ill work on getting some better pictures of it.

All I said about that was that my impression was it was more of a full width pod. I thought your way of making it work with the existing hull conditions was awesome. Just to ME I don't view it as a true hunt deck which has the motor mounted all the way back. Your mod definitely added buoyancy because the motor didnt move but you added area behind the weight - which is exactly what pods do. A hunt deck with the motor mounted on the stern most transom doesnt add buoyancy. All it does is move that weight further back by adding length to the hull (at least for some manufacturers)

MD, no offense taken, and hope none was given...
Now, had you said something like " it can only be a true hunt deck if it has a SD associated" - them would have been fightn' words... ;)
