Need some advice on boat I'm rebuilding. I have a Monarch 2073 flatbottom riveted but the whole outside of the boat is sprayed on 1/4in thick rhino lining. By putting a surface drive mud motor on, could I use the motor to it's full potential with no hesitation because of the rhino lining, or would it be reccomended to stay away from that type of motor due to the impact the boat will deal with? Any advice/suggestions? Thank you to all in advance!

That is a big ass boat and with the liner sprayed on prolly weighs a ton..... you will need 2 surface drives to see any performance.

Buddy had a big ass riveted hull like you mentioned. Its not the hull we were worried about, it was the transom. That transom is made of lite shit also and the bracking really isn't that good. I would check that out as well.

Thanks for the input, so with the transom aside, do you think the hull itself will handle it well? Theoretically i can put brackets on the transom and beef it up right? It's solid 2in aluminum

A boat that size should have a hull thickness of at least .100 ga. It should hold up depending on it intended use. Hunting, fishing or just riding, if your gonna be running alot of stumps, logs or rocks, its not going to last. Also, unless your gonna add performance mods to the motor, don't expext to set the world on fire with speed or performance issues with that barge. JMO though.

It's going to be a hunting/fishing boat, with duck hunting being primary use. Right now it's with me on east coast where I'm stationed but I'm from midwest originally, all I usually encounter is shallow and muddy water, I think I will end up putting it on, may have to put a couple more brackets on the transom. Definetly don't plan on racing her anytime soon but long as it can get through the mud to the ducks I'm happy. Thanks alot for your input!

That rough bedliner will really hurt your performance, that is alot of extra rough surface area dragging at the water.

I advise against that rig.

If it reverted and that big it's probably 7075 so it will be pretty tough. The rhino liner is a big brake shoe. A buddy of mine put it on a airboat that ran dry fine until he put it on. Threw him clean out of the boat first time het rid to run dry. I bought a Jon boat with the liner on it and covered it with GatorGlide and it did fine but I did not keep it long enough to tell you how the liner holds up.
