 Water in belt housing...
Went out the other day and my motor started acting funny, almost like I had lost some belt tension. It started off fine but after it got to higher speeds the belt was slipping of something. Pulled out and checked belt tension and it seemed fine and the belt looked good. Pulled the drain plug and enough water to make a 12"x12" puddle came out. 23 mini with 40 hours. Went over all my bolts and everything was fine. Only thing I can come up with is water some how got in thru my plastic belt cover....anyone else have this problem? Any input would be appreciated.

Had the same thing happen on a 27. It was the drain bolt in the bottom leaking on mine. Took some clear silicone and put it back in with that all in the threads and around the head. didn't have any teflon tape or probably would've just used that.

 Re: Water in belt housing...
yep, my MB 35 two seasons ago, gasket went bad, over 300 hours on it. Get it fixed asap. My mistake, but I let it go for a bit because if not's entirely broke why fix it, ( after knowing it leaked for at least 3 weeks during season ). You hear a new "growling" sound when you kick it into gear? If so, there's a chance some damage has been done and that's your ticking time bomb on the clutch bearings. When they go, they go and you're looking for a tow. No marsh repairs available and $600 in parts ( bearings & plate ). Shitty part is, when it happened to me at least, parts were not available with 3 open weekends left. Shutdown for the year and pizzed. good luck and gitter done

 Re: Water in belt housing...
my bad..you got a 23...no gasket on the housing....it's a plastic cover but if it's slipping, that's your clutch plate not grabbing for some reason....probably because it got wet If you got a MB, get a hold of Micha. He'll tell you what parts are needed but most likely it's the clutch plate gone bad. My .02, make it manual clutch and don't look back. Got a 27 MB SD too. Been there and done that. Over 3 years of flawless clutch issues.

yep, ...recognize all of that ...you make it in on your own ? Looks like a shitty odor, probably some smoke, a buddy tow , and +$500 problem ( maybe more depending on the depth...I did a new belt while I was at )

 Re: Water in belt housing...
Thanks for the advice, I drained the little bit of water out and resiliconed everything. Gonna take it out in the morning to see if that's the problem. If not MB will be getting a call.

 Re: Water in belt housing...
Well went out today after resiliconing my drain bolt..got water in there again. Maybe I need to use something different to seal it with. All I had was some kinda black high temp gasket maker. Any other ideas of how its getting in?? There are no visible cracks or anything.;

 Re: Water in belt housing...
I used http://www.permatex.com/products-2/prod ... ant-detailIt's actually listed as a sealant (use it on waders, in the past on many other things needing to be waterproof). I wonder if the gasket maker didn't seal well enough due to not placing it under any compression. (I have absolutely zero confidence one way or the other on that lol) From here, someone else will have to help with your issue, because I'd only be theorizing. Good Luck.

 Re: Water in belt housing...
While it's on the trailer, put more water in the housing and see where it comes out...
