Post Picked up my new Powell Performance Fab Woodduck
I picked up my new motor made by Powell Performance Fab...

6.5 hp Honda Clone (predator) powered with hop up kit to make it a 9 hp.

Very good design and build...welds are nice and materials are tough D.O.M. tubing (Drawn Over Mandrel) and the bends in the tubing are put in on a CNC machine. I could not believe this thing only weighs 59 lbs. Next season is going to be alot better for me with this thing.

Made in Hutchinson MN. I am not affilliated in any way with the mfg of these motors..Just passing on some good info on a good motor

Evidently that's not him, his dog, or boat. Those are two different motors. His is a clone, the one in the video is a honda. I believe he was just putting a link out there to show what it's capable of.

Look at the YouTube user name of the vid he posted? Think they're cool motors and plan to buy one. Curious it seems like someone acting like there not offiliated but everything they show is on that site? Prostaffery?

Back Water is now selling the frame kits that PPF copied. And Back Water is selling them $100 cheaper than PPF.

Cool story bro

I like the tubular bends of the PPF better. What's a hundy? I'll rip up that much in prop with my first gut beatin' run.

I'm hoping to put one on a 1436 or 1448. 36 wide would probably do better. Don't need much speed just get a few fat guys a mile or two from the ramp. The light weight of the PPF sounds good. Fat guys and gear add up fast plus transom can't handle much. Don't plan to jump dikes or beaver dams just run shallower than a outboard.

Most guys use these on small John boats or marsh/layout boats such as Momarsh, Hunt'em and Four Rivers. The water is usually shallow 2-6" and one doesn't need to be going 20mph at 4 am to go duck hunting.

If ya can't drive a boat stay off the water...... been hunting my area for over 20 years... i do 45 in the bay boat before sunrise on the same waters..... Who in the hell do you think you are? You do 20 and stay out a the main lanes.....matter of fact, hug the shoreline, it's safer.....

How big a river you runnin 45 on? The narrow river I hunt no way ya would be pullin that. Maybe around the first couple bends then ya be in da trees. Sound like the geniuses that ski the slough as wide as a two lane road then wonder why there bud swung a little wide and ate some riprap for lunch

seems to me the backwater has better design. I mean look at the motor mount setup/ transom mount. Way better/sturdy design. Also where the extra weight comes from. you get what you pay for. Ive never owned either brand but have built a longtail and bought some parts from backwater. Talked with arlon?? (i think thats his name) and he was very helpful and seem like they stand behind the product. I found out about ppf on facebook so who knows how long they have been around or will be. But I'm actually considering both options for my upcoming boat build. As far as stump jumper... they were the first but have yet to make any design improvements. For example the throttle control looks like cheap china parts. and the way the support tubing welds to the frame. They could clean it up a bit and make a better product. But for the longest they had no competition. I still think the backwater is the best choice just depends on if your set up can handle 35-40 more pounds at the rear of the boat. I plan to build my boat and do some load testing before buying either.

You gotta realize different strokes for different folks, you ever seen the boat races in arkansas? If I had to go multiple miles to get to some of my blinds like some of these guys down south theres no way I'd putt to my blind... Being in kansas the farthest we go on the river is 5-10 miles and it does make a huge difference going 13 vs 20 in time to get to the blind. The only people that contribute to the endangerment of themselves or other hunters are ones without lights in the dark and ones that dont wear a PFD or killswitch.
