In defense of the Boykin ( I am a lab owner ) . Who the hell makes 400 yard blind retrieves ? Wouldn't u just rather ditch that one duck and shoot more ducks ? instead of working a dog 400 yards to get a duck . A lot of wasted time if u ask me. The Boykin is not as popular of a breed, but they are on the rise.correct not many boykins have finished titles, but not nearly as many boykins compete as labs. What's the percentage of labs that actually get to a grand or a finished title for that matter ? I can tell u it's low. Probably the same percentage boykins do. There just smaller in number. They both have there advantages and disadvantages .

Boykins have made plenty noise
Multiple grand passes for this master hunter. Pam kadlec has 3 different dogs w grand passes. Mostly the reason these guys arnt on the circuit is bc of exposure. Noone knows wtf a boykin is. And everyone knows what a black lab is. In time hopefully the boykin will be continued as a Hunting dog. And not a puppy mill breed similar to most these days.

Idk about 400 yard retrieves but long retrieves aren't always uncommon. Knock down two canvasback in pictures below and after first retrieve the gulf current pulled 2nd ways out and I'd consider it a semi blind bc it wasn't were he marked it and thought it was. This was two weeks ago. First is all the way zoomed in and 2nd is zoomed out...
