 Boat is officially fukd The last 3 hunts I did with the mud boat were devastating on the hull. We had up to 500 foot drags over shove ice to get to open water. Some of the ice mounds were steep and 10 foot high. The hull is trashed. So I will place my order on a new hull soon. The problem I have by me is being able to conceal the boat due to short cover. Do you guys with the 1648's have any issues with hunting 3 guys and a dog? Also can I put a 35hp on a custom 1648 or is that pushing the limits? The 23 hp is so manageable I would like to put it on the new hull and see how it goes. If needed I would get the 27 or 35 bw. It sucks I have to do this because that riveted boat is so light (185lbs) it was easy to man handle it. Last question is what kind of weight can I expect of a custom 1648 with nothing? Bare bones. No floor. Just exposed stringers and completely open in 1/8th inch. Also I wonder how 1/8th will to with the ice.

Re: Boat is officially fukd I hunted 3 men out of my 1648 1 time and said I would never do it again. Just too crowded. Plus the speeds drop off big time. If you want to hunt 3 men and a dog I would suggest 1848 with a 35 SD of your choice. JMO.

Re: Boat is officially fukd 3 experienced hunters in a 16ft is very doable....but thats quite a load for a 23lt....but its doable also.
when u hunt at 3,make sure to bring 2 pushpoles.
Now....the question is......
how much are u asking for the paperwork on that trashed boat?

Re: Boat is officially fukd I have a freind that has a 1448 and we hunt 3 out of it. As long as everyone know what their doing its fine. Cant hual a a lot with you and its a slow ride but works good for his spots. Not sure if 3/16 will help you much with ice. Most of the damage is on the sides with the ice Ive broke. Might try and reinforce them somehow. Heres a pic of my 2072 with 3/16 bottom and 1/8 sides after breaking 4+ inch think ice last couple weeks of the season.

Re: Boat is officially fukd Its pushed in some and some pretty good sratches. Not anything real bad but if you do it a lot might want to reinfore the front of the sides to help with the abuse.
