 Opinions?
I was wondering about peoples stance on legalization of marijuana in Colorado? Wanting to have an intelligent conversation about the pros and cons? I believe its a good thing and a step in allowing people the freedom to make their own life choices, would also be good for the state to collect a tax and generate revenue for that state. Companies can still piss test if they want to and if a certain worker does not comply... see ya! It also has some medicinal purposes to help control pain and some neurological disorders, So what is everyone's stance? I believe if americans are grown up enough to be able to handle their own lives (which includes not leaning on gov to supply them with every means possible to survive) and if they cant balance out their life choices they aughta have to suffer the consequences. In america there are opportunities everywhere, there should be no reason you have to suffer hardships, unless you have troubles lowering your expectations of how your life should be lived. Alright, looking back this post turned into a mini rant, sorry for that, Any thoughts on legalization?

 Re: Opinions?
I say legalize it. This is coming from a person that has never touched the stuff. I'm all for the freedom to choose.

 Re: Opinions?
Pro 1. No hangover Pro 2. Still able to communicate uti unlike some drunks I know Pro 3. Less prisoners in the jail because of a few oz. of bud Pro 4. State can make billions of dollars on the taxation ( before ya'll bust my ass about the state taxing everything; I hate taxes if there was a way I could get out of paying any taxes I Dayum sho would)
Con 1. The thc stays in your system longer than alcohol. That sucks! Not sure about other cons, don't have any more tbh.
I quit smokin the stuff years ago because of randoms at my employer. I do have the urge now and again to take a few hits but isn't worth me losing my job. Out of all the years of random testing my name has been picked 1 time. My luck I hit the pipe a few times with a buddy on the weekend and BAM I get checked on Monday afternoon! LOL
I say legalize it and make some money.

 Re: Opinions?
Personally, i use to smoke and don't anymore, because like many others its not worth my career. Yet, the taxes would bring in revenue a well as all the licencing a grower and distributor would have get = money back into the economy. My main point... You will take profit from the cartels, and put it back into American hands. Legalize it, more problems with alcohol and prescription drugs imo

 Re: Opinions?
Good responses but those that really want it legalized want to grow it themselves. Atleast that is what I feel. Once the Gov't taxes it, which will be about 40%, the price will go up. Those hurting for money will still find it on the black market for cheaper, because the illegal dealer doesn't pay the taxes.
1. If legalized, there needs to be some type of onsite testing like a breathalyzer. 2. Age requirements. Just because it's legal kids shouldn't still do it.
When Cali was pushing they had hundreds of people wanting to grow it and sell it. Now there are only a few because the taxes were high. They will tax it. But the tax will be high enough to discourage sell it.
Although Colorado has sold millions in the 1st few weeks of the year off of MJ, none of those resellers got taxed. Wait till that hits them.

 Re: Opinions?
Im for it. But the pot shops that are law abiding citizens are going to have to worry about the cartels and them trying to bully or kill their way to get the pot shop owners to sell on the black market. That is the only con I see. Is there might be a lot of murders if owners say no and if they have no choice but to say yes then there will be a lot of them in jail if they get busted. DG has had two good points today on here and about getting money back for the mb sport v guys. Maybe he is turning over a new leaf???

 Re: Opinions?
I say no, alcohol is a big enough problem. As far as the tax money collected, the government will squander that, that is not the answer to our tax problems. And some people actually do need the government to tell they what to do. There is a pot shop in Colorado that has signed up to accept government food cards, and is going to be able to be used there also because they sell food products made with pot. However if it is legalized I will capitalize on it…I have a plan...

 Re: Opinions?
The piss test thing ?? If it's legal how can they fire you for testing + they let you get drunk when your not at work right?? Also there are test strips that they swab your mouth with. This is how they check for stoned drivers as it is only + for the time you are actually high. They can also get a pretty good idea of the amount of usage by testing your hair follicle. I think it should be legal. Tax the shit out of it and use 50% for treatment and re hab programs. Let's face it you guys have lost the war on drugs! It only is making a few people a lot of money. And police need a break to try and deal with more serious things.

 Re: Opinions?
When the government get involved in anything, it turns to shit quick. Welfare, flood insurance, Obama care…and on and on. I know some successful people that smoke pot, but I know a lot more dead beats that smoke it as well.

 Re: Opinions?
Sounds like a lot of intelligent comments so far by everyone.
I really do not care what people do at home, when they are 18 (yes, 18, everything should be 18 or everything should be 21 or 25, but not all over the place. And anyone in the military at 17 with parents permission should be able to vote and do what is legal at any other other age) but not in front of minors. We just do not have enough time or courts to deal with all of the petty bull shit.
However, I just do not like the idea of legalizing something else that numbs the existence for awhile. We know that usage by kids have shot up, in California, when it was pretty much legalized for everyone there. The pot out there now is way different than that weak weed we did 35 years ago. Take away the stigma and I think we will have more problems with intoxication out in public actually ending up being harmful.
What I am fixing so to say is based on old data so if any of this is false please let me know. I think that medical MJ is a farce. I read years ago that THC pills was just as affective if not more in one clean little package. Is this still true?
As for as the tax money, if it is to be legalized, ok tax the crap out of it. But we should not fall for the old deal that "we will make a ton of money off this for the government". Really, they will not lower our taxes. And the corrupt politicians will find ways to spend all this money while we will not benefit any more from it. And in a few years, they will be begging us for more money. Just like "gambling for education". What we need is more and more jobs, at lower income taxes to get people buying.
This is going to sound stupid. But I assign negative and positive values to things. Negative values breed even more unintended consequences. Positive values may breed some negatives but there will be positive spin offs with unintended good things happening. I think legalizing pot will be one of those things that breed negative unintended consequences.
What I would really like to see is that people can grow their own, but cannot sell it. They can give it away but not sell it. This is also unenforceable. Maybe not legalize it, just do not criminalize it.
Can we now talk about prostitution? Making it illegal to have sex because there was some dollars changed. Yet, it is legal if no money changed hands. We all know we all pay for it one way or another. Yeah, prostitution is a negative value. LOL. But I do not care what happens or what is paid between consenting adults. And I really do not care if they do heroin either.
Or Meth. Just do it at home away from kids and do not rely on me to pay for the consequences. How is all this for ambiguity.

 Re: Opinions?
My thought path is that people aughta be able to do whatever they want if it doesnt directly harm another person, within reason... If you want to smoke crack have at it, if you think heroin is a good path pursue it, but if it turns out you are broke and homeless afterwards dont blame others for your problems and dont expect the gov to have your back and give you every necessity to survive. If a drug is decriminalized it makes the entire drug cartel market collapse because nobody has to go through them anymore to get what they want... The gov got too many hands in everyones pockets and what is liberty if they tell you to follow a path that they see fit? The way I understand it any distilled liqour that is made at home is illegal and a felony, might be different for other states though, for some reason Im thinking that sounthern states might have some sort of new law that would allow the production but still prohibits the sale, Ill have to look into that a bit more. Voo Doo- good thoughts, I would encourage you to look into the medicinal utility of marijauna in children with seizures, there is one video that I have watched just recently that did a short segment on one little girl in particular that was helped by extracting the active agent out (cant remember if it is THC or the other one) and putting it into liquid drop form (not smoking) and it drastically reduced symptoms. I would look it up but im in class right now, maybe later Ill post a link... Good job guys I knew we could have a civil conversation about a topic haha
