I'm a GDSD owner and I vote PD. I've run both. Take that for what it's worth... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: prodrive or godevil can't decide
Well you may want to check your boat first. As far as a motor it is pretty simple. If you are going to be around a ton of thick grass then go prodrive. If you like simple easy to maintain motor that runs smooth then go GDSD. I own a GDSD. I love the customer service and how smooth it is to drive and easy to maintain. I usually do not have many issues with mud. However, every time I am playing in thick grass I usually leave wishing I had a GTR or PD. the GDSD runs great wide open in grass. It does not idol well in grass. The trim tabs catch the grass. The GDSD runs decent in rough water. Not sure about the others. You will have 100 different people tell you a hundred different things on here. Everyone will claim to know it all and have the best motor ever. Take your time and read about each motor before deciding. Real the owners manuals and make your decision. These are two completely different motors that operate completely different. You can lift the GDSD out of the water with one finger and it is easy on a transom. The PD is heavier on the transom. The PD does not need trim tabs to stay in the water. Go devil is a meat and potatoes engine. One is belt driven and the other uses gears. Research and research some more. Call both places. Go see them live. Make your decision after that

I run a GDLT. I have never run an SD. Ditch the GDSD and Prodrive. GTR all the way!!

Re: prodrive or godevil can't decide
When I was shopping for my first new surface drive I looked at them all. I kept coming back to the GTR. I don't regret it. Good in mud, great in grass. I'm an old man and need the reverse for loading. I'd be your nightmare around a ramp w/o a reverse. I put it on the Gator tail extreme.

Re: prodrive or godevil can't decide
Selling my gdsd was more about the lack of neutral. Having small kids and a dog made me very uncomfortable having my motor running and the prop spinning. I was fine with the motor other than that. But, after owning a pd theres not going to be another brand switch in my forseeable future. Reverse has gotten me out of a lot of situations that would have left me stranded had I not had it. Kp and peck are good ppl and have helped me out quite a bit. I suggest you drive the 2 and then make your descision.

Hey Gator Killer - Is your command of the English language really so restricted that you can only use profanity to express your view(s)? You neither impress or intimidate.

Re: prodrive or godevil can't decide
If you only needed to go forward, the go devil is a good choice .... but fpr is really beneficial. Tiller torque is practically non existent on the pro drive. I drove my old pd last weekend and realised how much I miss some aspects of it.... I really miss some of its width. 54" bottom make a very comfortable stable hull.

Re: prodrive or godevil can't decide
By a Pro-drive if you want a simple motor that's easy to drive with and live with. Unless you want the rippling biceps of a go devil owner, then Go Devil all the way.

Re: prodrive or godevil can't decide
gonna catch hell for this but i have both , now have a pro drive 18x54 cc with all the bells and whistles , came from a gd , i am going back to a go devil 16x60 with a 35 . the gd was a better built hull and a lot less maintenance if u don't need rev , a go devil is hard to beat service for both is top notch so that is not a problem . the prodrive 3rd rev. cyl , real heavy , slower than the godevil , hull has not held up as well as the godevil did i could go on , but the gd hull took the same abuse and show nothing like the pd hull has just my 2 cents mac
