My question is this I have a 2006 17x44 gator trax with a 32 pd and I'm wanting to change the prop out on it this summer while its not hunting season due to it not running as fast as it should in my opinion. The prop that's on it is the original prop so it's been on there since 2006 and the fastest I can get it to go is 22mph with just me in it turning up about 3550 rpm and when I first got it it would turn 3750 wide open trimmed just right. Could a worn out prop be affecting my performance and rpm cuz I know on a bass boat the different types of props can really affect rpm? Also I'm not sure what these props are supposed to measure from tip to tip but I measured mine today and it was about between 11 1/2 - 11 3/4 " from tip to tip. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

But, you're saying you are losing RPM's....prop wear would increase RPM's, wouldn't it? At least it did for me. As my prop wore, I was able to turn more RPM's...which allowed me to maintain the same speed...up to that point where I started bumping my rev limiter.

I'm not sure what a worn prop would do to the rpm's maybe I'm just not trimming it up far enough. So if I do replace the prop I should see a difference in the speed shouldn't I? If so how fast should my boat be running?

You need a new prop, and you also have motor issues. Could be as simple as your governor setting.

What would be a good prop for a 36pd sd I have the stock one on mine looking to change it.

What boat you running it on? Any mods or stock engine? What year and which LU you have?

Are you running the Gen III LU with the 3 blade or Gen II with 2 blade?

Prop worn but loosing rpm is another thing u should be able to hit rev with that much worn off of it.

Everyone always says your rpm's go up as your prop wears, but if you're trimming down to keep your speed up, a lot of time's your rpm's actually go down.

I'm currently running the one in the middle. One on the left is the worn prop. One on the right has a great hole shot with light load, bumps rev limit, slower than the tulip, and cannot put my boat on a step with three people. I find it odd because outboard prop logic would tell me the great hole shot would have been a good load carrier. But, it wasn't. But, this isn't an outboard, either.

I'm hanging onto it to see if my motor can turn it better when its balls drop.

I'm still trying to figure out the surface drive prop physics....because it's just a whole other subject compared to outboard props and true mudboat props....at least that's what I'm figuring out. I think if my motor had a bigger set of balls....or my boat wasn't so heavy....it would make for a good prop. I think I could run more of it in the water to get better speed out of it......did you catch that part where I said "I think?"

It's supposed to be a 12 x 12 prop...although it measures 12.375" diameter. Really baffled me when I first ran it. Ran by myself and my boat literally jumped out of deep water compared to the tulip. Speeds weren't that impressive..25-26 mph @4300..which worried me. The slightest wear, it will bump the rev limiter. Then, I stuck two buddies and 16 gallons of fuel in it. We shifted weight, ran shallow, with the wind, with the current...11-12 mph and just would not get out of it's way. Granted, two buddies averaged probably 225....but, the tulip could carry that load....in the shallows. I haven't turned the Cleaver in the mud, yet. If I need to eventually get rid of it, I want it to be pretty much "as new." It has less than an hour on it.
