Post GT trim?
I just recently purchased a 07 gatortail which has the older trim unit. (square box with all the bolts in it). It has been quite cold here in KY and yesterday in my shop, the trim would trim up but would hesitate to go down, just jerking. Today i tried it again and got the same result, however, now it won't trim up or down! Any suggestions?
Thanks

they all get slow when it's cold. either that or you don't have any fluid in it

Definitely check fluid in it, past experiences of trims on boats like the GT'S need fluid, I ran one low one time and had same problems wouldn't even move!

Yep. Check fluid level. Mine would leak and when the level got too low it would do this.

This afternoon I took out the front alen screw and trying pumping fluid in trim. Seems to never go in and kept coming out. I then unscrewed the lower alen screew on side of trim and dark oil poured out. Trim will still only go up slow but not go down!!
Any suggestions?

Take both screws out pump fluid through bottom till it comes out top then put top screw back in this creates a suction once full and top screw is in you can take out your tube to fill on bottom and put bottom screw back in Make sure to keep tight on bottom hole so no air is able to seep out while filling this prevents air getting inside the ram housing. Make sure to use correct fluid as well. Hope this helps

I haven't tried the suggested post on changing oil from the bottom yet but how the heck do you just add fluid if it is truly low. When I try to add to screw on front, the fluid just keeps coming out!

You have to keep a tight seal on the bottom when doing it I have done it before on an cnc hydralic trim before to my knowlege thats how its done and thats how i have done it before. Suggestion may be get a small pump gun with a flexible metal hose on end and put it in hole and pump, most fluid bottles when bought have a small top for ease of use.
