 New to mud motors I just bought a used 1548 with a 23hp mud buddy. I don't know a whole lot about mud motors so I was looking for some help. I am having trouble getting this boat on plane. It gets up good but then seems like to just falls off right before it gets on plane. There is no difference between half and full throttle. Is there anything I should check that could be a simple fix?

Re: New to mud motors The prop needs to be running partially out of the water. Are you trimmed up enough?

Re: New to mud motors Make sure your transom angle and transom height are right for what your running. My buddy had a 23 MB on 15x48 and it didnt do well till we put a 1" piece of square tube under the motor to get the height right.

Re: New to mud motors I just put a tiny tach on it last night so I will find out what its turning this evening and I have not measured the prop. If it needs to be running partially out of the water then I could have had it trimmed too deep. I noticed that the motor mount is not sitting flush on the transom but about an inch high. Idk if that is normal? Where should my shaft and prop be in aspect to the bottom of the boat?
