Post Should I even consider a .100 Hull?
I'm shopping for a small mud rig for trapping.

I don't see myself doing a lot banging around in wood/stumps. Rather, I need something suited for shallow water and weeds.

Should I even consider a .100 hull?

It would be fine if you didn't hit any stumps/logs. No need in any thicker bottom. Should last a long time if taken care of!

The .100 hall has cross bracing. Cross bracing is bad news did shallow water riding. It is really easy to hook a boat with cross bracing. However, those boats will work on mud motors. Many people use them. I just sold my rig with .100 aluminum. It worked fine for me. I decided to get a bigger and better boat with 1/8th and different bracing. If your budget allows I suggest getting a boat designed for a mud motor. If you need to get a .100 boat to ride in for a while it will work. Just make sure not to dent the bottom.

Where bouts you located? If its not too far you could get in touch with Cottonmouth Custom Boats. He builds some nice small lightweight boats.

The lite Jon's aren't even .1 if i remember correctly. I think they are .090, maybe even .08

I stand corrected. I'd say go for it. I have heard nothing but good things about phowler boats. Both on the product side, and customer service

I wouldn't hesitate to run a .100 boat if I was in clear marsh with nothing but grass, mud, and shallow water to worry about.
Until then, I'll keep beating around in my .190 hull

Phowler does not mention bracing on the lite hall. However, it is .100 grain built with a stronger grade aluminum than traditional jon boats. The boat looks like it it built well on the website. Made for surface drive motors up to 27hp.

What kills me is when people say .100 gauge.

It's not gauge it's just thickness.

Gauges are 16 ga, 18 ga, 20 ga, etc.

You are correct. It is thickness. You are correct I said grain instead of thickness. You are the smartest man alive and I am a dumb ass. You are the man and I am not. You are the most intelligent guy on mud motor talk. I wish I could be like you.
Oh and until next time, Go Fuck Yourself!!!!!!

I am going to be just fine. I just popped open a can of coors light and I'm about to eat some shrimp with my wife. That is a perfect ending to a very long day of meetings.
