Re: Krotz Springs to Plaquemines: Atchafalaya Historic Trave
It's 25 miles across as the crow flies. Add another 10 miles for the actual path across. So I'm guessing it's a 35 or so mile run. If we cruise non stop at 20 mph it won't take long at all, but we won't. So this can be done in a day, easily. If we have a couple of putt putts with us it will slow us down by half. Locks will add another hour at least.

This would be a legit ride. If it happens to work out, we could possibly turn this into a ride we do once a year every spring.

That's roughly an 80 mi run. Put down at Sorrel and it's roughly 65. Go to www.daftlogic.com and you can measure your route.

Might just start at Bayou Sorel. That would eliminate the locks.

65 miles is still pretty far. Might would possibly be better if we started on a Friday evening if at all possible (that's if we planned on camping out)

I fucked up. Not sure what his route was. It can be done at either 50 or 65. Still a haul.

Re: Krotz Springs to Plaquemines: Atchafalaya Historic Trave
Still in planning stage. We could start at Bayou Sorel and end at Henderson, but some of the prettiest spots are between Henderson and Port Barre. Even at 60 miles it would only take half a day at most if we cruised an average of 20 mph. That's 3 hours non stop. How many gallons an hour would you figure a 35 would burn?

I don't care if it's just 4 or 5 of us, but it would nice if 20 or so made the trip with us. It would be especially nice for out of towners who have never experienced the Atchafalaya Basin.

Re: Krotz Springs to Plaquemines: Atchafalaya Historic Trave
if we do this, we could turn this into something big over the next few years. so if we camp out, would everyone rather just do something simple for dinner, like fend for yourselves with samwhiches, or everyone chip in , like a pot luck type of thing, and we grill or fry fish or cook a big gravey or something

Yea I don't duck hunt a lot this year so I can contribute ducks. I can contribute deer. See this is another problem. We have to include time to cook something like this bc y'all know if you want a good brown gravey done right it has to be cook for hours

Haha, well everyone cooks differently. I won't be complaining. I could do a big pot of southern style green beans and or southern style smothered potatoes as sides. Shit now I'm ready to go just for the food
