 Cat walks
Wanting to put 4" cat walks on my 1754 extreme. I've only personally seen one boat with catwalks and didn't pay too much attention to them. What I'm wondering is roughly how far apart are yall putting the relief cuts? I understand that the more curve the boat has that they will need to be closer together or a wider cut. Just trying to save some time on trial and error. Thanks in advance.

 Re: Cat walks
You can get 6" to 8" catwalk and not give up any floor space just have them mimic your inside floor and use the space that the side flare occupies at the beam....
Did mine that way and wider catwalks are nice to sit on when hunting or fishing too....

 Re: Cat walks
If I use 4" angle the catwalk will be 6" total with the gunnel cap, that was my intentions.

 Re: Cat walks
Make sure you bevel before you weld them. I didnt and it crached the whole length of the boat over the build process. And stitxh it underneath.

 Re: Cat walks
Are you planning on trying to walk on them, or adding for strength?

I have 3" on mine, plus the gunnel cap, and I like the size of them.

 Re: Cat walks
Why do the relief cut method? Just get material wide enough so you can cut the curve in.

 Re: Cat walks
Running the angle angle the too of the boat even with the gunnel. I want it to match the curve of the boat because it just looks goofy to me to be straight. I ordered the material yesterday, 4x2 angle, so when I get it finished I'll let y'all know how it turned out.

Well got the catwalks finished up today. Not a bad job, went a lot easier than I thought just a ton of grinding!

 Re: Cat walks
Wonder how they will crack being ground down. Brother barely hits his with the grinder to smooth down the top a little.

 Re: Cat walks
I got 14" cat walks on my 2011 "19.9 x 69" D 3 Marsh Master boat".
I certain do use them when walking up from the rear to the front of the boat.

 Re: Cat walks
Welded 100%, shouldn't crack. Took it down some rough as roads and hit plenty of stuff on the lake today with no problems.

 Cat walks
Mine are ground down and haven't had any issues either.
Pretty sure phillip's boat is ground down too. I don't remember seeing a weld every so often on his.

 Re: Cat walks
Meant to say I wonder if they will crack... I have seen some cracked that were ground down, but maybe he didn't weld it correctly.

 Re: Cat walks
This was the first set I've done and I think they went well. Definitely not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm undecided if I want to build a little console to relocate my switch panel.
