Post Powertech Props
Well, first let me say that i like PT and the crew, very nice people, great product.

Buuuuuuut, after getting tired of the vibration on my GTR i decided to talk to a prop guy. We checked the prop for balance, it was not. We checked some measurements, the blades were not symmetrical to each other. This was a brand new prop. I'm letting him balance and work the prop to get it where it needs to be. Hopefully this helps the vibration.

I would pay top dollar for a smooth driving prop. I want something to run for river cruises, deep water. I really don't care about performance characteristics, i just want a comfortable ride.

Does anyone know of a prop to run for deep water, I've searched the forum and all i found was this nice looking three blade, looked brass or ni-bral.

It makes a difference in vibration for sure! I just lost speed so i rather 2 blade I also have a stock motor on a big boat that could be the reason

I already tried the three blade. Sold it already lol.

I will post a small review on if this guy improves the vibration with working the prop.

The 3 blade rich ran was awesome. The production prop didn't have near the cup than the one we brought up to arkansas.

My goal is to get a comfortable ride. After a long day running my boat my hand is tingling for hours after.

Does the three blade need as much cup as the two blade?

Yeah but that doesn't stop the boat from resonating.

One of the biggest reasons why these motors tear up is due to the vibration. The rear case leaking, I'm sure the time it takes to happen is accelerated by the vibration.

Nice rig!

I may just go buy a small clever and have the hub machined.

That's kind of what I'm doing. Cut down a ski boat prop to a cleaver shape. All the cleavers I saw had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much pitch for a mm.

Yeah I'm looking around for anything to get machined but everything has way to much pitch. Maybe I'll just get one, cut and re weld the blades.

Is pretty easy to cut one down. Worked better than I planned. Looking for a fucked up old 1 1/8" shaft to cut the taper off of and tap to fit my threaded shaft.

Are the gt three blade props balanced or I'm I going to need to have it balanced before running it?

Post Re: Powertech Props
ive been running the three blade a little while now on the new rig with a stock motor with a 32" shaft. I'd say im satisfied with the performance so far. Although i havent ran a two blade on this motor to compare it to. So far ive seen 30 light just me and a cooler. 27 with 2 guys fishing gear 2 coolers and a small live well all deep water speeds. Only thing thats kind of weird about it is im running my motor on the top hole but it seems like there could still be a little trim up left. I was told at GT when i picked up my boat that the three blade runs totally differnt than the 2 in regards to trim angle and such. From driving my buddies 25 gtr w/32" shaft and a two blade it does run differently but i wont have a good comparison till i run a 2 blade on my new rig.

It's not a tulip, its a GT prop. Just got Hopkins to balance it and put a satin finish on it.

I don't know about the finish, i was holding 32mph in deep water. It was 75.00 to balance and polish. I will never put a stock prop on my boat without doing this. Lesson learned.

I need to admit that i am a perfectionist. I am willing to go the extra mile and pay up for the best results possible.

I'm actually getting a brand new three blade tweaked, I'm very curious to see how it comes out.

^ This is magnified greatly with a little sand or gravel mixed in. Running in deep water for long distance and having a comfortable ride can be achieved with the purchase of an outboard for much less $$$ & maintenance.
