Well a guy brought me a motor yesterday to adjust carb he met at the house adjusted carb and changed jets motor ran great . So I said let's take a ride ran to gas station by the nearest launch and filled up the other 5 gallons in the tank put boat in and take off make it 200 yards and bam boat shut down full of water. In 20 mins pulled carb off drained it blew out fuel hose and waited for him to return with new gas. So I guess my ? Is how is that gonna work out for u guys with EFI will u be stranded half of hunting season waiting for repairs by those guys at pro drive

EFI does not like water

I had this happen more than once to me. Due to a vent being turned a little and be Abel to catch water. A few weeks ago it happen to me again while scouting right before a charter. It sucked water 3 times on me and all 3 times I was able to get back up and running

It's so funny....These guys defending their stone age carbs like giga defends his stone age godevil...... lol

both are mechanical and going to fail at some point. when that happens a carb is easier and requires
less tools to trouble shoot. EFI is better than a carb. but more complicated to fix

Oh, you were wrong when you said carbs are cheaper to enhance...also not true, you gotta buy jets left and right to tune a carb. All you gotta do is plug in a cable to tune EFI, no extra parts necessary. Just saying

EFI is the shit in the drag racing world and EFI is only more complicated to some...

Oh and modding a 35hp air cooled motor cannot be compared to a modded 1000+ hp rail....... just because you mod your lawn mower engine does not make it the same...... my diesel is chipped fuel injection turbo..... speaking of dragsters..... where are the super or turbo charged motors? How about water injection? Where is the performance advances from these engines except for efi? Change a cam, head work.... roller rockers valves etc......people been doing that for years..... maybe an electric turbo or forced air induction....... somebody please do something new......

I got three friends, who are brothers, that I help with their drag cars. All three are running direct port EFI motors. Surprisingly, they all use to run carbs and switched them out. Hmm...

Dfou..... you can get a laptop cheaper than a smart phone.... you still living in the year 2000? Laptops are cheap unless you want to spend more .......

The biggest difference that no one has mentioned yet is the fact that an everyday shade tree mechanic can work on a carb, they can't with an EFI system. You have to know WTF your doing. Having said that, every engine that IO have ever owned, except this PD 36, has had efi. I have had my 225 EFI since 04 and it runs like the day I bought it. There are a few that claim the aluminum tank will be the downfall of the efi system due to moisture content. Well again, have had an aluminum tank in my hull since 2004 and no issues. Water filter seperator, change it our on a regular basis.

Anytime someone get s out of their confort zone, they tend to bash the "new and inproved" shit instead of understanding how it works. Its easy to make something else look bad to make your shit look good. never ran an efi briggs yet, but I'm sure its a hell of a machine.

Working on efi isn't hard.... All connections hooked up.... your pretty much good to go..... If you are more of a tech guy.... hook up the laptop and remap.....

Stranded for half of hunting season waiting for repairs....

Its the water in fuel epidemic that has been leaving fuel injected outboards, four wheelers, and side by sides stranded for years. Its about to hit the mudmotor market as well. Watch out Pro-Drive and Gator-tail, its coming for you too, and your customers will be missing half of hunting and fishing seasons!!

Efi is fine, carbs are good too if you prefer them.

I'll look for the new carb vs efi thread in a few minutes now that this one is settled.
