 Boat Insurance
I recently upgraded to a center console prodrive. I don't know about some of you money bags but that's a lot of money to me. So my question is - is boat insurance worth investing in? I know these boats can take one hell of a beating so I'm not sure if it's even worth looking in to but figured I would ask around. If it is worth getting what types of coverage should I look in to? Is there certain companies that give a better rate over others? What's the avg monthly? Y'all tell me since obviously I don't know what I talking about when it comes to boat insurance. I know I get a discounted rate for taking the coast guard capt course but that's the existent that I know.

 Re: Boat Insurance
Just don't let your agent write it through progressive. You'll pay for the full year only to get a letter a couple weeks later saying they don't cover your hull type or propulsion type and give you a refund....... and then you have to start all over. Waste of time.

 Re: Boat Insurance
Very loaded question. It varies by individual. They use credit, loss history, insurance history, etc to get rates. The way I explain the need is if you can write a check for a brand new boat and not flinch you don't need insurance. But from you sayin it's a big hunk I would say you do need it. It's not there for maintenance it's there for a total loss. Also you need property damage and liability if you boat race public land or are ever on crowded waterways

 Re: Boat Insurance
I dropped them before they dropped me. I was up for renewal and they sent me a survey for why I didn't renew. I had fun with it.
