1644 Go-Devil w/23 MB Mini Lite, EVT Stage 1 Gecker Pipes
This rig was pretty slow with the mini, ran around 20.5 and could bump 23 in the shallows. When you loaded it down it became a dog! Ran about 15-17 tops!
So added stage 1 and pipes, getting around 23.5 and have bumped 24 in deep water with light load and by myself. With 2 (both over 200lbs) people and a hunting load, 2 batteries, full 7 gallon fuel tank, dog 70 lbs will run 20-20.5.
This rig is a great boat for running in tight places, turns on a dime. It never was intended to be a speed demon. It's a decent 2 man rig...now.

Re: 1644 Go-Devil w/23 MB Mini Lite, EVT Stage 1 Gecker Pipes
possibly did you try it with just the custom exhaust first. i have the sane motor and was gona start out with just a custom exhaust and was wandering if much performance gain came from the exhaust or the carb mostly?

I did it all at the same time. Don't believe you will get much gains with just the exhaust, but you got to start somewhere right.

BIgdtex - i am surprised at the speeds you posted before your mods. 2 people and you would only get 15-17mph???
I have my 23 mini on a 1648 old landau boat, which isnt a smooth bottom like yours. I only have the BPS X-over exhaust and will get 23 mph with 2 people and a moderate load.
I would say maybe your boat is heavier, but I really don't know how much mine weighs.

Every boat and motor combo will definately be different. I personnally think both your boats are to big for the 23. I've got mine sittin on a Geaux 1542 and can touch over 26 mph with just me in boat. She is real close to 27 at times. After a few mods this winter I am hoping for 29. I then can play/beat many of the big boys!

Re: 1644 Go-Devil w/23 MB Mini Lite, EVT Stage 1 Gecker Pipes
3peckeredbilly - as i posted above, those speeds i gave were for two men and a moderate load. My 1648 gets 26 with one man as well, plus I have much more room than a 1542.
Put some money into your engine and you may hit 29 by yourself, but youre not gonna sustain that with any sort of load. Thats the difference between the 23 and the "big boys" as you call them.

Hate to tell ya Bayou but I can already beat 1 big boy that I run with on a continues basis! Loaded I figure I only drop a mile or two because I still run with him. Thats the thing with mods, "load carrying abilities!"

Re: 1644 Go-Devil w/23 MB Mini Lite, EVT Stage 1 Gecker Pipes
What's a "continues basis"? You're not gonna convince me that "a few mods" on a 23 will push anywhere near the load a stock 36 will. I've seen the difference, and its not comparable. There's no substitute for displacement. If your 23 hp stock, under a load, is keeping up with a 36 , then tell that guy to clean his carb or check for fouled plugs.....somethin' ain't right! Maybe you were just saying that YOU were "loaded", then things may make more since. Anyways, back to the original post: BigD....great job with the mods, they look great and I'm sure they sound great as well. I notice you only posted improved speeds, but I'd bet you've got a lot better throttle response and low end power as well.

Re: 1644 Go-Devil w/23 MB Mini Lite, EVT Stage 1 Gecker Pipes
Much better throttle response and low end too.
I can't hang with by friend that has a MB6000, but I can pass my buddy with the 29 Kawi MB on the 1644 Gator Trax.
The Go-Devil is a heavy boat, nearly 500 lbs, so I'm looking at the Gator Trax 17' Rogue in the near future.
Not trying to eclipse the 30 mile an hour mark, this thing is a creek running, skinny water machine.

Craig, Maybe I can learn a few things from you! Let me know what ya got. Real close to 30 running stock but want the load carrying abilities.

Went and ran this rig this morning with just me (235), 2 batteries, full tank of gas(6 gallons) and a cooler with beverages. This rig averaged 25.5 and we touched 26.5 several times. This is deep water speeds, no shallows.

3 pecker's hull, and if'n I remember right it wieghed 400lbs without any rigging or the seat pod. Has 21" sides, 7' rake, .125 / 5086 alum comercial hull
Everyone who saw this little bugger really liked it.
