Post Grass caught between prop and shaft on GTR w/32" shaft
So I've had a problem a few times with my motor with having grass wrap up in between the prop and the end of the shaft where you cant pop it from forward or reverse and untangle it. What im thinking the problem is that on my skeg with the 32" shaft theres a decent size gap between the wear sleeve and the skeg. On the motors with the 27" shaft the skeg goes all the way up. From what Ive noticed its allowing grass to build up in that gap then really get strung up tight around the shaft. Ive also had the problem on my buddies motor 25 gtr with 32" shaft. Im thinking if the skeg went all the way up like the shorter shaft the problem wouldn't be near as bad. Thoughts opinions similar problem?

I've heard the same complaint from people without that extra bit on the skeg. If you can have someone weld that bit in that would work. When the skeg is close to the prop, it creates a shearing area where the prop shears vegetation against that spot on the skeg.

It's either weld a piece on or buy a new skeg.

If you weld it on leave it straight, don't bend it to match the original bend of the skeg. Get as close to the prop as you can without hitting.

I built a rock skeg for mine. Could built you one that didn't hang down like the rock skeg and ran closer to the prop.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1403472097.589221.jpg
