23gdsd- currently running 3 blade prop thinking of going to a 12x10 tiger propeller any thoughts/concerns?

Those that run the 12x10 on the 35 GDSD on heavier rigs have said
it worked well with good bottom end torque - but did not hold up as
well in sand and oysters - as the only negative....

I think the same could be true on the 23 GDSD....

With less pitch it will be slower but should have good bottom end power....

Thanks for the input, what i heard so far from micah at bps was that the 12 x10 would be better in the mud and would have less cavitation, holeshot in deeper water would suffer and top end would pick up. I will post findings soon as the prop gets here went ahead and ordered one should be here this week.

So what hull is your 23 GDSD mounted on ???

What max speed are you getting and what issues are you trying to solve or improve ???

Gigafowl- mounted on a 16' 1" all welded skiff 40" bottom, max speed 24.5 when first put motor on issues is the prop is worn down and time to change just seeing what other options people have tried and results. I've always heard the 3 blade cavitation is bad in the mud and a 2 blade will out perform 3 in the mud.

@Redfish Bandit: what year is your motor? Reason I ask is mine is an 08 and came stock with the GD 2 blade prop... The previous owner put a stage 1 kit on it and never upgraded to the newer pulley set up to run the bigger 3 blade prop. I'm just wondering how mine would perform with the 12x10...

@ b0bby mine is 09 came stock with 3 blade and upgraded pulley system.

@ Gigafowl - 3 blade prop has done good I have 296 hrs on engine and prop had been reworked around 150-160 hrs.
24.5 was with minimal weight in boat, just seems as if rpms are higher than they use to be and prop losing its bite.
Reason I was turned to a 2 blade is like u said it does better in the weeds and shallows most places I frog and bowfish are those type of waters. I will keep y'all posted soon as I get the prop and hit the water , thanks

I text the previous owner and found out yesterday that mine has the "mud buddy big blade" prop already on it. He put it on when he did the stage 1 upgrade. I just bought my boat/motor from him this past friday so I havent had a chance to take it out and run it yet. Ive been working every day. I looked at it after work yesterday and it looks a little worn but still got good cup. Im off this Sunday and going to go run it on Millwood Lake. I will post speeds here when I get home.

@ b0bbymc- sounds good I hope to hit the water this weekend I will post how well it performs

Went out on Millwood Lake today and cruised around with my wife and dog. Was getting 22mph in deep water. Tried to run it solo and check it but my prop kept coming out of the water when I would get to full speed. Anyone know what I need to do to correct this?

@ b0bbymc- you need to bend the 2 tabs on the skeg plate up , bend a little at a time until it doesn't want to pop out of the water. I haven't had a chance to go this weekend and run mine got called out to work.

@b0bbymc- I would change the prop but not sure on the big blade diemension what is considered worn out, but the 3 blade gdsd props if worn down to 11-1/2 they say to change bc performance is not there anymore and prop cannot be reworked.

At least dress out those leading edges with a file
or orbital sander to reduce some of that "prop lift"
and vibration....

Tiger propeller - 3790-3830 rpm only 1 person in boat max speed 23.4
3gdsd 3 blade -3580- 3600 rpm only 1 person in boat max speed 24.5 (this is not a new prop)

Tiger propeller pushed boat harder in the lower end spins more rpms and did very good in shallow water/ mud and grass.
3 blade gdsd propeller didn't bite as hard in mud as I can remember last time I ran it before taking it off performed goof in mud / shallows but think the tiger got more lift that the 3 blade.

Took it out Saturday night frogging 2 people in the boat full of gas 20.8-21 on top end with tiger propeller rpm 3690-3730 in deep water
Performed great in mud grass and shallows pushed better than the 3 blade as I can remember.

3 blade gdsd propeller I was getting 21.8-22 mph with 2 people in the boat in deeper water @ 3490-3590 rpm
