Red dot sights for duck hunting
I've been etching the out door channel and I'm starting to see red dot sight systems being used for bird hunting.
Has anyone used one of these? Likes? Dislikes?

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
I remember seeing one idiot on a duck/goose hunting show on the sportsman channel swearing by his and trying to promote it, but he missed almost everything he shot at. Not sure if the sight had anything to do with it or if he was just a complete idiot.

If you have use these to kill stuff with a shotgun you need to quit shooting a shotgun.

I think it would just pass me off to have to look through that . Hell only time I really even notice my sight is on long shots

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
Looks nice - for a rifle.... People will buy anything, especially with good marketing behind it. These manufacturers thrive on that fact, knowing their product is inferior. You AIM a rifle - you POINT a shotgun. They know that as well. I filed my sights off completely - don't need them. You're supposed to be looking at the target, not the sights. It all starts with gun fit - once your stock-well is adjusted properly, and you mount consistently, every time you pull the gun up, you'll automatically be aiming where you're looking. Then it's just a matter of concentrating and matching your barrel speed with the target speed. 1 2 3 Take a look and choose the video, "never look down the barrel" & "How to See the Lead" http://www.ospschool.com/osp-video-deta ... e-Barrel-2Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
I agree, I don't know how long it was like that, but it let my buddy shoot my gun in the blind and he asked me where my bead was? That thing must have fallen out ages ago and I never noticed.

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
I hunt from a boat and blind and didn't see the shotgun sight section on the forum.

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
I use a larger bead at the end of my shotgun. I'm left eye dominant but shoot right handed. I've just learned to compensate.

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
My father in law has one and swears by it, but everything he has is better than mine anyway.... so take that as you will. My thoughts are if you need a sight for wing shooting you probably don't need to be shooting flying objects.

I just bought an extrema2 with one of these on it. I have never shot the gun but I doubt it will be left on there.

Re: Red dot sights for duck hunting
Some dudes like peckers for sexy time... Some dudes like red dot sights on their shotguns.
You need a new hobby if you suck so bad you need a red dot. Go shoot some clays or something to sharpen up.
