Post Hunt deck on custom build
I am having a 1752 built and am having some trouble finding specs on hunt decks. I am having him build the length at 18 inches but I am not sure about the "thickness" from the bottom of the boat to the top of the hunt deck. He is to the point where he needs to know the "thickness" to finish the boat. Any info would be great. Thanks guys

I'd think your builder should know this.

It's being built by diamond back airboats. They are new to the mud boat stuff but have been working diligent with me on this build. I will try to upload some pics that they emailed to me. They have built some smaller boats that I have seen personally and look great but without hunt decks. The boat looks great so far I just need to get specs on these decks.

I think it can vary depending on boat. My boat has 21" sides and I think my hunt deck is 15" tall.

It really doesn't matter how tall it is. Excel makes there's like 6-8" and I build mine like 12" or so.

The only thing is bracing up for the transom with it being that tall. It's going to need some sort of knee brace or gusset.

Might sit a little low in the back when not moving but that's about it.

I was thinking the same thing. I think some excels have braces like that if I remember right. And like you said.. My concern is sitting low in the back. I think 12 inches would be a good number for thickness. There shop is about a hour from my house so I might have to just go down there and take a look. It's hard to judge without putting eyes on it I guess. They will build it however I want I just don't want them to get to the point of no return

Mostly depends on if you plan to put battery underneath it or not to keep it out of the way. If so, 15" tall is what you need. Even then you have to put the battery posts facing forward, lay it down, then turn up once underneath. If you don't, posts will arc off on the top of the hunt deck. Anything shorter you will be putting the battery somewhere else

Top of the hut deck should be about 6" or so below top of false transom. That boat in the pic is way to low.

Few pics of the boat. Hunt deck is a little different than most as far as the shape of it but all in all i am very happy with the build. Boat got painted today and has some small things that need to be done like tie down hoops etc that need to be finished and then I can bring her home. The guys at diamondback have been awesome to deal with and are willing to build anything you want exactly how you want it. Very pleased with CS and craftsmanship. What do y'all think...?
