 Re: my homegrown longtail, suggestions?
the show on CMT 'angels among us' episode 104. they sent two guys down for three days, interviewed me and vetted my story with all the paramedics and trauma doc in Ft Worth, filmed my story, took out every mention of the name "Jesus". certainly there were angels involved, they are known to do God's handiwork, but I was bummed they took out the part of me praying to God for Jesus to take away my sins. They have the right to final cut, they make that clear early on when signing papers. It was probably me, the church of God put my story in their denomination's magazine. I had lots of witnesses to my miracle. Hit dead square in the chest and head by 2500+ pounds of Ford iron, hammered flat. I got all the documentation, unlike many folks who claimed something miraculous happened. I cant prove folks anything about God or that I found the only way to him, but I can prove that there was supernatural intervention without a doubt. I was praying to God through Jesus Christ, and thats how I got my miracle. But folks tend to believe what they want. Since then I've seen lots of folks get prayers answered in a great many areas of their lives, and me too. I hit black ice last Thanksgiving (34 degrees....) and hit a bridge concrete baracade going 75mph, head on, instant stop. My son was unhurt, I finished rupturing a disc in my neck and eventually had to get that fixed and some titanium plate and screws. But I was back to work the day after the accident, worked a couple months and then had the neck fixed in order to get the feeling back in my left hand. I only missed a couple weeks of work total, planned. Been back at 100% ever since, another result of praying I think. Who hits a concrete baracade doing 75 and goes back to work the next day? God's been good to me. I'd like him to be a little more preemptive, but I cant complain, now can I? Its the only auto wreck I've ever had in my life... I'm really not accident prone, but when I have one it tends to be a big one. I get right back up on the horse though, life aint worth living if your living scared.

applied thin single coat of epoxy with graphite mixed in. it was very old epoxy I had laying around, but it was amazingly good stuff the last time I used it. It cured hard overnight, hoping its hard as a rock. per my coating guy at work I scuffed up all the primer and exposed aluminum with 100 grit paper, blew off dust, wiped down with acetone. hoping it works as intended. its hard...

 Re: my homegrown longtail, suggestions?
bought some hard foam sheet for the floor and some 1/4" horse trailer mat to cover it with, plan to glue all that down on my next evening off, then mount the thin aluminum toolbox for dry storage. getting closer... of course I also need to be exploring my local big lake for hunting spots, so the clock is ticking. after all I could hunt just fine with no covering over the floor. we didnt have many ducks down last year till late november in this area, so maybe there is no rush. and lake levels will no doubt change between now and then changing all the likely spots

That closed cell foam worked really well to fill the gaps in the ribs of my boat, I just tucked the mat under the seat and it was enough to hold everything down while pulling down the road. It's also nice having then loose so that in the spring I can pull each peice out and clean the debris that builds up during the season...

Probably my best idea yet, so I can haul it around by myself when working on it and tweaking... its a booger to carry around without help!!!

yes, the wheels come off! its just a back saver around the garage and to the trailer. i got to borrow a tubing bender from work and put a little s-curve in my tiller, no biggie. the wheels are the stuff, you can imagine how my back feels most of the time. moral of the story- dont break your back in several places! dont rupture your discs!

Pretty sure the bugs are worked out, running good, very reliable, slick bottom seems pretty darned slick! Cruizing through some mud and weeds and pretty sure sliding over a little dry ground in there- http://youtu.be/1HhKrpwy-Wo

The tank outlet is in the front, it did not run well with even the slightest tail-down angle. Solved the problem as you can see, runs great now from full till bone dry. Had to pull loose the tank vent tube, othewise it liquid locks, but that took all of 10 seconds to pull loose.

 Re: my homegrown longtail, suggestions?
It starts on 4th pull in below freezing wet weather. With myself and my two boys, one weighs 100 and the other around 240, a heavy wet Lab, all our gear and a trolling motor, that 14' boat sits LOW!!! and plows the water pretty heavy. To be honest it doesnt go much faster at full throttle than at just a little over idle. With just two of us and no gear it flies, with all our gear and three of us (well, four counting Bruce) its slow and steady. Ran completely reliable over our four days of hunting/camping and we covered around 10 miles per day (4 out and 4 back and some running around).
Also to be honest, when its in the 20's, windy and pitch black on a winding river with stumps and rocks, even with my boat lights and two Q-beams, slow and steady is plenty fast enough for me! I was nervous even at idling speeds!
