Material thickness for longtail skeg ???
Hey guys I'm building a 18hp longtail mud motor and I'm curious what thickness steel everyone is making their skeg out of? I'm thinking 3/16", I imagine the skeg takes quite a bit of abuse. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Greg C.

I use 1/8" in both steel and aluminum. Skeggs take way less beating than one would suppose if they are welded solidly. The cavitation plate is where the abuse occurs.
