 The Led dilemma
As a boat company we've battled the price versus quality led dilemma as well. I met the owner of southern lite led two years ago at the sportsman show, became a dealer and we have used his products since. We've been very happy with his lights and customer service. Now that our company is growing we will be stocking his products and currently have a large stocking order on the way. Anyone looking for LEDs for the upcoming season give us a call 225-456-0930 and we will be happy to set you up with lights best suited for your needs. We most commonly use the 11" spot/flood combo w/ 10 watt Cree bulbs that sells for $165. Other lights we will be stocking-
2x2 cube spot $75 4" deuce spot/flood $75 The boat lite $395 Remote lite $299

 Re: The Led dilemma
How well does that 11" bar light it up?

 Re: The Led dilemma

 Re: The Led dilemma
We used to order the ones off eBay and had constant trouble.... One bulb not working, bolts stripping trying to mount, would not stay in place after tightening and some that would not work at all! And the brightness...... We frog the spillway and the 11" has been more than enough for what we do not to mention we've beat the shit out of it and it's still in one piece.

We are also a dealer for them and can't say enough good things about them. Jam up company. The boat lite is badass.

 Re: The Led dilemma
Bbb is correct the boat lite is $395 and it comes in their heavy duty metal box. I noticed on my invoice the box and light were priced separately but I'm not sure if I can get just the light. I do know this when we first started I ordered some of them cheap Chinese lights and they suck! Pretty good motto "cheap shit ain't good and good shit ain't cheap" lol

 Re: The Led dilemma
We haven't had any issues with it at that height. We run the spillway and it's been plenty enough light on our froggin trips.

 Re: The Led dilemma
Hmmmm. Hard to tell the difference from "cheap" Chinese led lights and high quality Chinese lights. 99.9% are made in China.
Best way to tell how honest your led company is , if you don't have a lumin meter, is to measure amps.
How many amps do these lights pull? What is the advertise amps? And named wattage?

 Re: The Led dilemma
Drawing more current doesn't mean they put out more light, especially if they use a shitty reflector. Could just mean they use a less efficient board that wastes more power.

 Re: The Led dilemma
Yes , but with two very similar looking lights, reflectors or near identical, amps tells you how much light you put out. Leds are pretty much leds are far as light eff goes. Some got hot if they cheaped out on heat sink, but the leds are near identical.
Amps tells the true story. Science does not change from light to light.

 Re: The Led dilemma
LED's use driver boards...some are more or less efficient than others. They are not like regular light bulbs, can't think of them the same way.
