Post 23hp GDLT mods.
What would be a good first mod to help perform better. I know I'm not gonna get much more speed but I would like for it to carry a hunting load a little better.

When I first got it I was going around 17 with just me and my dad but with a hunting load it dropped down to around 12.

Its pretty worn, real thin on the outer edge. I have a new one ready to go on i just havn't put it on yet.
With the worn prop im only going around 14 with me and my GF. and around 11 with hunting load. I was planning on puting on the new prop before season.

Besides the prop (get a spare too), advance the throttle to 4300 rpm out of the water. Get a tiny tach if you do not have one. You should realize some small mph gain with this. Switch over to synthetic oil (Mobil 1 for example) and grease. If there is a foam "prebreather" around the air filter, shuck it. There are many factors such as your hull type, weight distribution, etc. I get better results with a 9x6 prop although my 27 HP LT is rated for the 9x7.
